Good value basics - underwear etc
I would like to help out a local homeless/rehoming charity. Amongst other things, they have an ongoing need for underwear and socks, basics like that.
What's my best option to procure multipacks of this sort of thing?
I am assuming this could be a good supermarket buy?
Asda - cheap and cheerful but quality ok?
Sainsbury's - when they have a 25% deal on?
Tesco - somewhere in between the two?
M&S - when they have a 20% deal on?
Any other suggestions welcomed, thank you

Re: Good value basics - underwear etc
I have always been somewhat leery of ebay for things like underwear.
There is a whole market for, er, "niche" items like this you never knew existed!
But as long as I can specify new and completely unused, I may be willing to search...

No problem. In effect you are buying from the manufacturer (via a middleman of course). No different from buying in a shop.
I don't, myself, buy underwear or socks (or haven't yet) on eBay, but I have long since given up on the high street for shirts.

Primark..surprisingly good quality and value. 3 men's underpants £4.50. M & S up to £17 for 2!

I get mine from Sainsbury's (25% sales of course) - better quality than the others I have tried

Matalan were MUCH cheaper than M&S and better quality. I now get all my "stuff" from there.

I find Asda (George) basics to be fine, good quality and very reasonably priced

I was impressed by the quality of a woolly jumper from Primark, so I tried some of their socks, but had holes in the toes within a few days. Both the most basic and the type they called Modal.
Morrison's basic socks were a bit better but not much.
I then tried some of the Asda George range Work socks and they lasted much better, albeit with an annoying pattern instead of my preferred plain black.

Re: Good value basics - underwear etc
You think I may have extra sharp feet? Possible, I suppose. Even if I had forgotten to trim them few times, they still went through the whole Primark pack faster than any sock pack I have ever owned. It soon became clear there was no point in mending them, but I found the band from an old pack of socks which soldiered on for years, saw that they contained modal (whatever that is) and gave Primark a second chance by trying their version of those. One of them wore a hole the same day as I took it from the pack. Very comfortable, mind, until my big toe emerged from the hole anyway.
My fault for going for cheap socks perhaps, but the George Work socks are not expensive, and have been so much more long lasting that I did deem it worthwhile mending the only hole that has appeared so far.
