Not a frequent poster, but definitely an avid reader. Hope the rest of the board members show up :)

Fortunately many significant TMF posts are already in the WayBack Machine, preserved for posterity - and if they're not you can request them to be archived. I've already checked and found all but one of my HYP Christmas reviews were already archived and made sure the missing one is now there too (stop that groaning at the back!).

Bree.

True, but a lot of posts aren't there. I just tried 3 from my bookmarks list and none of them were archived.

If it is OK for TWM to archive posts then presumably (this might be bad logic) it should be OK for anyone else to do the same.

They will be if you ask them to. The WayBack Machine told you...
Hrm.
Wayback Machine doesn't have that page archived.

This page is available on the web!
Help make the Wayback Machine more complete!
Save this url in the Wayback Machine

Just click the Save this url in the Wayback Machine link and they will immediately be added to the archive. I did that for a number of the GDHYP reports that are (now) in the WayBack Machine. If you think any 'missing' post is a 'milestone' then archive it now!

Well,I am here and hope many others will arrive. i was absolutely shattered as a Doris that we had lost the Investment Trusts board and all the rest where I went every day.

Good to see many familiar names. Now where is Arb and Luniversal and is MunroMan working on a new set up?

Anniel ( who was penym) ..I had joined lemonfool some time ago)

I wish this site well and I hope to contribute more often than on TMF boards in recent years.

I assume that this board is not moderated (?) and so I hope that the members of the board can be self moderating, otherwise I think that we will quickly lose the most valuable contributors. For the avoidance of doubt I am optimistic!! SDN

Hi SDN, as I'm used to this format from other fora I can answer this point.
See the two icons in the box above/right your original text? The " and a ! buttons. I used the " to quote your text^. But it is the !-button that is the 'report this post' feature.

I've been a member of Motley Fool since 2002 and have made the grand total of 17 posts to date.
I was surprised at the decision to close the MF Boards, and even more surprised (and relieved) at the speed of the setting up of this alternative site. Its great to still see the names of posters whose views and advice I deeply respect.
Thank you everyone!
Guaitai.

Out of interest, how 'safe' is Wayback Machine? e.g. what happens when whoever runs/pays for it decides to pull the plug because the money isn't rolling in? Is Wayback archived by someone else?

just pondering...

Just a quick greeting to say hi. Long term lurker here, learnt immensely from everybody especially the stalwarts over the years. I discovered the US fool in the old days when it was hosted by AOL.com and subsequently joined the UK site when it was conceived...must be 16 years ago?? Big thanks to Stooz and Clariman for doing this.

Back to lurking....

Seems fairly safe - you can do quite a lot on $10 million a year...

Another lurker signing in. I suspect many of us lurkers are in awe of the pearls of wisdom that are posted and are hesitant to make themselves look foolish. I will chip in on occasion if I have any specialist knowledge or am prepared to expose myself to ridicule. Other than that I feel some sort of recs system needs to be present to pander to the frequent posters egos as we definitely won't be offering cash incentives :D

I've always found it amusing that the investment strategy of buy and forget generates so much discussion, almost as a relief valve for the urge to do something active.

What a great initiative. Positively lifts the spirits and I certainly need something to keep me warm and cheer me up at present as my heating system is down! Maybe a trip to Beerpig's snug can help ;-)
