Gengulphus, Thanks for the worked example, I thought I was on to something with the tiny savings.

Ian, Arb and me - See I was right we can save hundredths of a percent on our investments if we stop harvesting those dividends early for psychological profit and those hundredths all compound up.

Ok already, you win kempiejon. :D I'm all for compounding, and every little bit, however small, helps.

Ian.

Aha! But as itsallaguess would point out, the emotional and psychological benefit is just as (or more) important! So if snapping up early dividends stimulates the pleasure centre, do it!

Yes, you'll be really glad you kept them compounding when your pot is 16% bigger in a millennium's time... ;-)

All most amusing, cheers for the laughs guys. Just to confirm my intentions, I will be topping up my Admiral Group holdings on 22 Aug 18. The reasons include the yield on offer is very tempting, the forthcoming ex dividend date, and the fact that I like the company story and ethos.

As a reminder Admiral's tasty 5% odd dividend yield does include special dividends. These not so special dividends have been rolling in since 2005 and both specials and regular have been increasing for a decade plus, according to https://www.dividenddata.co.uk/dividend ... y?epic=ADM at 10% annualised. In my HYP that's good work increasing income.

Thank you kempiejon. That’ll do for me.
