What it says on the tin! HYP now looks like this:
HYPTUSS states running yield now 6.18%
Cheers, OLTB.

Re: OLTB's HYP - topped up Vodafone
Is Vodafone really an HYP share?
Given its hugely uncovered divi, and unestablished business model?
LSE gives a yield of 8.66% http://www.lse.co.uk/SharePrice.asp?sha ... DAFONE_GRP. which is a red flag, although if I were considering a purchase I would want to establish its veracity.
I do hold, but wonder whether I should.

Aye, wow and not much wrong with that lot.
Have you got Sky as yielding 0% as you'll soon be able to deploy that into something above 4 for a tiny bit more.

Thanks kempiejon
HYPTUSS's yield for SKY is 1.60%, so it may be a little out of kilter with what is realistic. As you say, when the SKY sale proceeds drop into the cash account I shall move into something more HYP-like to increase income further.
In terms of the running yield figure, I assume that the yield shown is this high because the HYP capital value has dropped quite a bit over the last few days and when some of the constituents start to recover in terms of capital values, this running yield figure will drop back into the 5%+ bracket. I might be wrong, so happy to be put right!

Me too, I have it my SIPP, the wife's SIPP and my fund account. I have no plans to add, I really do not know where this business is heading and that comes from somebody who worked as a network engineer for 16 years and have an ex colleague who works for them.

Interesting and hopeful article (I own VOD) but elsewhere on this forum I have been warned off about giving any credence whatsoever to analysts views. When an analyst confirms our bias (we all have them), do we believe them?

Vodafone is yielding 8 percent. FWIW I believe you will receive your 8 percent dividend for now and the foreseeable future. If that happens I struggle to see the SP dropping much further.

Re: OLTB's HYP - topped up Vodafone
I'm probably going to top-up VOD shortly. The VOD in my portfolio if held for my wife; effectively accumulated birthday/Xmas presents* that have rolled up. So the price I can choose to pay is entirely discretionary, I can wait until I see stress, or irrational prices. I reckon there is likely decent value to be had now when taking a say HYP/5-10yr+ view
FWIW I'm also wondering if IMB/Imperial after the week it's had [-6.3% on Friday, -4.3%/week], now merits the slide-rule being lined up against it...
*and no, I don't just buy her VOD at those times i/o 'nice shiny physical consumer stuff', they're just something additional and more lasting/L-T in the background.

Quite right - I only believe analysts when the article reinforces a recent action I have undertaken
Cheers, OLTB.
p.s. @DE - I also may opt for IMB as well for my next slug of cash...

Funnily enough, I was looking at BATS for next month’s top up myself. I have a full holding of Imperial Brands, and did top up my BATS holdings only a few months ago. A little more BATS wouldn’t hurt maybe? To get back on topic though, my VOD top up for this month, alongside a smaller top up of MARS still stands.

Re: OLTB's HYP - topped up Vodafone
I see that the yield on BATS & IMB is currently 5.97% and 6.99% (according to dividend data). Rounding up a bit, we have yields of 6% and 7%.
Which one is the one most likely to maintain and/or grow the dividend?

To be honest monabri, I have no concerns regarding either of them doing just that.

LSE, the source to which I habitually and perhaps erroneously go for thumbnails has a yield of 5.3% this morning http://www.lse.co.uk/SharePrice.asp?SharePrice=bats.
Of more interest if true, is the cover which is over ten times, so as you say there would be plenty of scope for continued growth.
It's been a while since I topped up anything much, what with trying to guess which way prices will go post-Br**** , but I just bought a few more BATS, thankyou for the prompt.
After all, it's good being able to support something British in the manufacturing sector :}

Interesting - I suspect that the calculation of dividend cover is incorrect at over 10x (!)
(I wonder where London South East ('lse') gets it's info?)
Why I raise the issue is because "SimplyWallStreet" also claims a dividend cover of well over a factor of 10.
Based on free cash flow data from Morningstar, I reckon the dividend cover is more like 1.1 (£2.38 free cash flow per share / £2.18 dividend).
Digital Look indicates a current dividend cover of 1.5 and a forecast cover of 1.5. these latter sources (Morningstar & DL) seem more realistic.
