RIO (CFO share buys)

#184062

I see that the CFO of RIO has recently put his hand in his pocket to the tune of £1.1million.

"Rio Tinto said Chief Financial Officer Jakob Stausholm purchased shares in FTSE 100-listed mining company in two separate transactions on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, Stausholm acquired 15,000 shares at a price of 3,664.35 pence each, while on Friday, he bought another 15,000 shares at the same price. The total value of both transactions was GBP1.1 million."

Curious.

If he has really bought 15,000 shares today at 3660 something he has paid more than the quoted high price for the day, and RIO itself bought 330,000 at prices between mid 3500s and 3620ish, so not as though 15,000 would have moved the market. My information comes from investegate.co.uk, I wonder if LSE has read the two announcements regarding yesterday's purchase and turned them into two separate purchases of an identical number of shares at an identical price?

If there is an error it would appear to have been between the RNS statements on the LSE website, and the article linked to by the OP which appears to be produced by "Alliance News Ltd". Thought it strange on reflection that the LSE could get a director buy wrong.
