Yes I am not suggesting that they are in anything like the same position as Carillion (I have never held either) just that posters for some reason were taking comfort from the continuing award of contracts to Carillion, even to the extent of buying their shares and adding to existing holdings very close to their demise.
The fact that Kier have acted decisively in raising cash, even in a rather discomfiting way for the underwriters, must give some comfort. I would not buy though.

Re: Kier Group - RESULTS OF RIGHTS ISSUE
Quite a large change downwards in shorting levels. Now at 5.2%, down from 13.98% at the end of November.

Re: Kier Group - RESULTS OF RIGHTS ISSUE
Following on from the recent rights issue, it seems Mr Woodford wants changes at the top of Kier.

p.s. visible shorting level now down to 2.97%.

Seems Woodford has had his way!

Re: Kier Group - RESULTS OF RIGHTS ISSUE
Kier are reported to be winning a lot of new work.
https://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk/ ... load-chase
"There were 20 regular working days in February 2019 and in that time Kier picked up 45 new construction contracts."
"In the first two months of 2019 Kier has already won £1.4bn worth of new construction business from 67 different contracts."
"......there were still £5.6bn of new construction orders recorded by the Builders’ Conference in February 2019, which paints a very different picture to other industry surveys that indicate a slowing down."
I look forward to them achieving a good margin on the contracts... (Hopefully not just a revenue chase?)
"Other strong performers in February were: Galliford Try, with six contract wins totalling £381m....and Balfour Beatty, picking up three contracts totalling £243m"
