Admiral Results

Can be found here https://admiralgroup.co.uk/investor-rel ... sentations, I hope.

Were it not for the Ogden changes (discount rate on claims) the results would not quite so rosy. As it is we have a good increase in the all important dividend of 11%, including the special (which they no longer highlight) I am not complaining.

Nice bonus for employees!

Over 10,000 staff each receive free shares worth a total of £3,600 under the employee share scheme based on the full year 2018 results

Very happy as a shareholder, very unhappy as a customer. While I will still be a shareholder in a months time, I won't be a customer at that point. I hope I am in a small minority of their customers.

I'm not a customer, but am a very happy shareholder, and intend to hang on to my ADM shares for a long time yet.

Correction issued by ADM .

"Admiral notes corrections to pages 2 and 5 of the Preliminary Full Year Results announcement issued 7 March 2019 regarding the split of normal and special dividend.

The corrected figures have no impact on the total final 2018 dividend of 66 pence per share. The correct split is a normal dividend of 49.6 pence per share and special dividend of 16.4 pence per share."

The market does not like these results (sp down 4.50%) and I can quite see why. As I said in the opening post were it not for the improvement in Ogden (the discount rate used for claims) the profit is hardly up at all. It has picked all the low hanging fruit in the UK and is finding it quite difficult to do very much overseas, except spend money, for all their happy staff and slick comments.

Still, it seems to be a bit of a cash cow, so long may that support the dividend. Just watch that the very advantageous terms they get from Munichre continue. Without those they would just be another ordinary motor insurer.

I am happy to hold but with these reservations.

I had a fantastic experience as a customer during the beast from the east. Admiral found a repair man the same day it broke down, which was incredible enough, and then there was no charge for the repair.

I note that their staff rate Admiral highly as a place to work, which encourages me a little, as does the rise in dividend.
