Arb's HYP third quarter

#257838

Postby Arborbridge » October 14th, 2019, 6:34 pm

9 months through the year and a nice time to see how things are going overall.

In december last year, my forecast for income in 2019 was in the range 7.1 to 7.3 - I notice from my annual report here: (I would provide a link but searching under the post #190982 returns nothing, and searching until the topic "Arb's HYP 12th Year" returns a message "The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words" In other words,I can't hack the search box)

So how am I doing this year compared with that forecast? Rather well. The income to end Q3 is 6.13 pence per unit and the last quarter will probably push me over 7.2 altogether. In fact, looking at the latest chart below, one can see that the last four quarters add up to 7.28p so that's a good indication that unless Q4 collapses, we are on target.

Here's the chart showing HYP, IncIT basket, IncOEIC basket and RPI altogether:

Incidentally, by Q3, I mean the last day of September, not the historic quarter days.

Thanks for finding it. Perhaps I could have done given time, but I lost patience with the silly search thingy - especially telling me that "Arb" was a 'common' word :x

Very nice Arb, thanks for sharing. Not surprised 'Arb' is a common word, you're one of the true mainstay, must reads, on this board.

The answers I got here recently to a similar issue (though nothing like as severe an example) were that the software is currently set to effectively treat any word of less than 5 characters as "too common". This is being done to keep the search indices down in size: they had apparently grown big enough to be significantly slowing down the site. It's a decidedly imperfect fix (in particular makes searching for share symbols impossible ... :-( ) and is hopefully a temporary fix until (and if) the site is moved to a better server.

Thanks Gen, so that explains my difficulty compared with previous searches. Can anyone tell me how to search on a known post number? The search box won't work for the post number, and I can't find an advanced search option "by post number".

That’s a type of question for the Biscuit Bar but if you grab the url for your post, as below, then you can replace the 258083 with the known post number.

There are other methods.

Thanks, that worked. But what's surprising is that there isn't a search option for going straight to the post number without a workaround.

Prompted by teecee90's contribution, I thought I'd add this to my post. It shows the change in income unit price since April 2016 (left scale) and the 12 month foreecast income, right scale. What's interesting to me is that the gradual increase in income forecast has reversed - the outlook has become more sober. In particular, the recent quite strong reduction (around 3-4%) also shows up in teecee90's chart.

Incidentally, anyone running HYPTUSS to do this, if they own BHP shares, needs to alter the yield manually since the automatic process returns the wrong value.
