At the risk of being boring.....

#117

Postby Arborbridge » November 4th, 2016, 1:18 pm

Here's my potential top up rankings, in order of precendence. Let's just see how a table works here! ;)

Ticker Forecast Yield Income % Ov/under median Cap % oncost
MKS 6.20% 2.77 0.83 2.91%
PSON 6.80% 3.35 0.91 3.54%
LLOY 5.70% 2.50 0.81 4.23%
LGEN 6.90% 3.64 0.98 2.14%
IRV 7.80% 4.43 1.05 1.93%
VOD 5.80% 2.67 0.85 1.94%
CNA 5.80% 2.85 0.91 3.72%
GNK 4.60% 2.01 0.81 1.64%
CLLN 7.50% 4.35 1.08 3.88%
EMG 5.60% 2.54 0.84 2.62%

Marks seems the favourite to receive more cash. Lloyds has received its maximum dose of capital.
PSON, Centrica and Carillion are ner to the maximum allowed. VOD - I'm not happy with the cover.

So, it'll probably be Marks or Marks and one other as there is cash in two different accounts.
Here goes - press the submit button and perhaps back to the drawing board later:)

Arb, and everyone else who may be interested -

We'll see lots of positives come out of the current TMF situation, I'm sure, but one of the ones I've already discovered is the ability for us to include pictures into our posts here, as in this example -

Image

The only downside is that the image files need prior hosting on an external website, so we would first need to upload them to somewhere like -

http://imgur.com/

Then, if you get the saved imgur image up in a browser window and right-click on it, and then select 'Copy Image Location', it will place a URL on your clipboard of the link to the picture itself (without any imgur banner/site surround) as in this post.

Hope this helps, as it means we'll at last be able to simply copy a snapshot of a spreadsheet or whatever, to help with issues like this.

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

BBcode can include the ability to create tables, but it needs to be set up. See this link: http://www.4seven.de/forum/6test/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=110

Think things like this will come out once things have settled down ;)

Testing BBCode for tables

[table]
[tr]
[th]1[/th]
[th]2[/th]
[th]3[/th]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]col 1 text[/td]
[td]col 2 text[/td]
[td]col 2 text[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]col1 row 3[/td]
[td]col2 row 3[/td]
[td]col3 row 3[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]
nope

[h2]Testing other forms of BBCode[/h2] nope

is this bold yes
is this italic yes

[size=200]Testing using code tags with tabs[/size=200] <<<this uses size tags nope

Code: Select all

single tabs
1   2   3
double tabs
4      5      6

yes

Testing using code tags with spaces

Code: Select all

1          2          3
4          5          6

yes

Conclusion
Some BBCode tags are active and some aren't. It probably requires Stooz to change the setting before some of them will work.

Hi Arb,

I am just waiting for a divi payment to arrive in my account and MKS is currently my number 1 choice. Must say that it has only got on my HYPTUSS ranking recently.

BTW I like the ability to add a "photo". Hopefully Kiloran and itsallaguess will come up with a way of formatting that we had for TMF (will go and wash my mouth out now).

I just posted a request in the Biscuit Bar thread for new board requests to ask for an equivalent of The Fool's "The Information Desk / Test" forum where people could post tests to play with formatting. Don't hold your breath though because I'm sure Stooz has a million other things to do at the moment.

I didn't post any feature request for better table support in the new features thread because it looks as if there are others here who could articulate that request way better than me so I'll leave that for someone else to do.

Trying to post a table seems compicated compared with the Fool, but no doubt we will sort it out eventually.
I tried using the preview button, but AFAIK it did not work.

Just my luck about MKS - the price rose yesterday, though it is falling back today. Not that a per pence makes much difference either way but I've always tried to "finesse" things if I can, rather than not doing so.

OK So I can reply to an e-mail but unlike the other place this site does not seem to give me the post I am replying to. Am I doing something wrong?

Arb,

Have asked kiloran to look at the possibility of a tool like the TMF formatter. He is going to see if possible.

Not sure what you mean exactly Dod, other than the posting feature working differently to TMF, but were you aware that you can use the 'Reply with quote' feature on each post, to do what I've done above and include a section of the post you're replying to?

Something of a middle-ground approach, but better than nothing at the moment, and also better than having to copy/paste and then put in italics as well.

Does it help?

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

Raptor - thanks for starting the ball rolling with Kiloran about tables. Unless we can find an easy way of posting tables, it is severely limiting on ease of communication. We can post an image, but that does not answer many cases, and think of the table which Luni publishes - they would require great patience.

Arb, along with Julian, I asked for a 'test' board so that we could try things out. It's now been set up and Kiloram has already made some posts. We'll get there!

Thanks. I think I was just being a bit over keen and I will give this a few posts to settle down. It shows great promise, but there must be an effort by someone somewhere to get and keep this running. Well done anyway!

Good to see some familiar "CyberFaces" have migrated here! :D

- Will we have Individual Share pages?
- Would it be possible to have a "Please Constructively Critique my Portfolio!" page, as this was one of the best things I really benefitted from at the other closing place!! Albeit a specific page for this never existed........

Thanks so much to all concerned for this brilliant initiative. :!:

Arb, Kiloran and Raptor

From what I can see after my tests yesterday, it should only require that the BBCode tags are added for table structures and then there are a couple of tools already available
http://www.southshoreforums.com/csv2tbl.htm
and
http://www.teamopolis.com/tools/bbcode-table-generator.aspx

If we can request those code be added then tables should be much easier - though no doubt there is a list of other things currently growing like topsy ;-)

cheers

Have just posted a request for the BBCode tags on the Feature Request thread, so hopefully when Stooz gets a few mniutes to rub together he'll look at it.

Marks' and Spencer, Berkeley, Greene King, N Brown, HSBC are high on my list. I think M&S is first up with this month savings and accumulated dividends. Within the ISA I also have Provident Financial's buy out money to deploy so will be topping up a few more from hat list.
