Not saying it is what Direct Line are doing, but it would not be the first time a business has dipped a toe in the water in this way to determine if it is worth making the investment in their own capability in the area.

Whilst taking IDP's comment on board I think we should wrap up the reference to Direct Line by confirming that it does not write life insurance and is therefore no competitor for L & G and to compare them is like comparing the mythical apples and oranges.

Both fruit though, so when compared to a brick they look relatively similar...
