Just sold some Shell at £24.49 as it was getting too big a position in my portfolio. If it continues upwards I will be very happy. I am not suggesting that it is another Scottish Mortgage. Bought some more GSK with the proceeds as it is about to be split in two which would otherwise reduce the value of each company to very small holdings.

I think that's a sensible thing to do. I have reduced my Shell holdings by 2/3 to ramp up the yield elsewhere. My selling Shell guarantees further share price appreciation, of course.

Surprised you bought GSK, indeed somewhat surprised you're still holding it given the announced divi cut.
Holding onto Shell fttb, nice to see them above water.

Yes but although GSK is cutting its dividend, there is Haleon alongside and the dividend is not everything. I intend to keep both shares but felt that the split would mean that neither was big enough alone. I have more or less doubled my holding in GSK which ought to leave me with a decent holding in both. That's the thinking. See how it works in practice.

Re: Shell
Working out fine today (BTW, this is all tongue in cheek as I know it is far too short a period to be in any way meaningful) Shell is down again and GSK is one of the few shares in my portfolio to have risen this morning. All is otherwise doom and gloom, no doubt on the back of the very poor outlook for our economy.

Re: Shell
Fortunately, the UK economy isn't the only thing of importance to most HYPers, since the large Caps that we hold are diversified around the world, and many account in USD. Best just to sit tight as usual and hope this Bear Market is fairly short lived. I hold Both Shell and GSK and am happy to continue to do so.
