Morrison's Dividend due 29 June

#63798

Postby mike » June 30th, 2017, 8:20 am

I hold MRW in both certificated form and in a CREST account, and dividends from all shares held like this hit my bank account on the day stated, or even show up the evening before.

MRW's dividends were due yesterday, but neither have arrived. Before I give Capita a ring, has anyone either received or not received their MRW dividend?

Thanks
Mike

TD credited it on the day.
Nice to see the increase from last year, although nowhere near its former glory.

Some brokers seem in general rather slow.

Mine are with YouInvest who usually credit accounts on the payment date, but I haven't had my MRW dividends credited yet.

No MRW divi received by AJB Youinvest which is very unusual. I'll give it till Monday.

But if you hold it certificated or in CREST it should be paid on the day as the broker isn't involved. Even with a new holding the cheque has always arrived in the post on payment day for my Crest holdings.

That's why this is so unusual. My ISAs have delayed divis from time to time, but they always turn up and I don't tend to worry about it. But with directly held shares there is no broker involvement, and I cannot remember a previous time one was not in on time.

Interesting that AJ Bell's haven't turned up either; I hold a SIPP with them, and their divis generally arrive on time.

I've spoken to Capita; I was the first to bring it to their attention which didn't make me jump for joy. Am waiting for their response.

And to close off the missing MRW divis, they arrived sometime this afternoon. When I checked at lunch they were not there.

Capita did call back, no explanation, just a request to check I had received them, and that if I hadn't I would receive them by the end of the day.

Thanks all for checking your accounts. None the wiser as to why they were late when there is no broker intermediary, but no harm done.

They must have been late paying aj bell youinvest too and I think there is no excuse for this. they should pay on time as registrars.

And one (perhaps, or perhaps not!) interesting side-note -

The delayed payments received from Morrisons came in as "Faster Payments Receipt".

All other dividend receipts since 1 October last year, which includes the Morrison's interims, have come in as "Bank Giro Credit"

So it seems a system or just plain human error somewhere in the Capita/Morrisons partnership occured, and Faster Payments put it right quicker that a Giro Credit would have done.

All companies make mistakes. The mark of a good company is how they put right their mistakes. So well done Capita/Morrisons, they corrected the error in the quickest way they could.

Yes - but if the mistake had been the other way around - i.e. you owed them money and you didn't pay on time, I bet you they would have been less sympathetic to YOUR mistake.

For goodness sake. How many of us pay a tradesman's bill on the exact due date? I hope most of us but I bet there are a few who do not.
