Sainsbury on the up today

My HYP retailer of choice Sainsbury are currently up over 3% in sp terms today. I've held them since 17 Feb 2011, and am in no mood to sell out. Here's the reason for today's sp rise I suspect;

Sainsbury: Berenberg initiates on Buy with a target price of 300p.

Same broker has a downer on Morrison's however;

Morrisons a 'sell' due to 'limited opportunities', says Berenberg

Morrisons is vulnerable to a derating if sales slow, said Berenberg as it initiated coverage with a 'sell' recommendation, with Sainsbury's preferred as the top pick for the sector.

Unfortunately my cycle retailer, Halfords is down 3% today. They have a store near me which I enjoy having a look around when I am passing.

I have all 4 mentioned in the thread so far so I guess the overall position would be still under water. What a hopeless lot. I shall be surprised if any of them improve much in the foreseeable future.

Fingers crossed, then. I bet it won't be much, though.

It wasn't - 1p interim which suggests a full year of ~3p which compares to 14.79p in 12/13 and 14.79p again in 13/14 before the cut

Well, they've got to save their pennies to pay all that compensation to certain shareholders which unfortunately doesn't include me because of the prescriptive dates. Existing holders' decisions are also influenced by figures so equally affected when books are cooked. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the court case against former staff.
