Re: Redunadancy, tied accommodation question
I think if you put it to them that:
1) the tenancy doesn't end, and
2) he should TUPE transfer
and ask them to come back with advice on why you are not correct....
...you are very likely to get a better settlement.

Re: Redunadancy, tied accommodation question
Given the various responses so far personally I think you should seek some advice from Shelter, Citizens Advice, local solicitors, etc. re both the TUPE aspects and the tenancy aspects.Until you get that I think you and your spouse would be wise to postpone the next redundancy/consultation meeting as being "too soon as I need to take some legal advice".

Re: Redunadancy, tied accommodation question
Hi All
OH had his meeting this morning
It has been agreed that he will work 6 more weeks to cover events that are coming up
We can stay in the house for a low rent for 12 months then the rent will be reviewed
They are also looking at increasing his redundancy payment to reflect the commitment and successes of the time he was working although no ammount has been put forward yet.
We are waiting for confirmation in writing, his final meeting is due Friday.

Sounds good Lizzy but I can add nothing. What does TUPE mean?

Transfer of Undertakings, Protection of Employment - 2006, updated 2014 - law on employee rights in business transfers. Stems from the Acquired Rights Directive.
You know, one of those pesky EU laws that we want to get rid of so we can 'take back control'.

Re: Redunadancy, tied accommodation question
I have just been told by a friend that OH can ask for training as part of his redundancy, does anyone know how this works?
Thanks
Lizzy

It's not true I'm afraid. Well, he can *ask* of course but there is no compulsion on an employer to provide training. Often they do as big firms have good deals on training packages and might as well use them but this sounds like a fairly small employer that is unlikely to have that in place.

This is practical not polite discussions so seems a bit irrelevant here. However it could be that with recent events, should we "take back control" and your party achieves office, this is an example law that could be updated to further improve worker's rights, which might not have been possible otherwise. Let's leave the politics for elsewhere shall we?

Thanks Mel. You are a fund of information. I am reading this thread with interest. A lot has changed since I was involved in any of this.

Well said dealtn. Absolutely no need for such comments in this thread. I must admit my teeth grated when I read them, so I must be a sensitive soul as well!
Peace out
