Sainsburys have buy 6 and get 25% off .. I used it to get some Roc De Lussac , Lussac St Emilion 2013 for just over £5 a bottle as its currently reduced to £7 .. nice Bordeaux for the money and good to have some for guests if it lasts until Christmas!

Indeed, the best aspect of the offer is that the 25% reduction is applied after any existing price reduction/special offer. With Christmas approaching, and a notable birthday in the family, in addition to some already reduced reds (Barolo and Chateauneuf) they had Veuve Clicquot reduced from £40 to £30 which with the 25% subsequently applied, took it down to £22.50

So not my usual tipple, but with a fast approaching significant party, it made it a reasonable purchase.

Are you sure? I am pretty certain I have bought already reduced wines in that promotion and got a further 25% off.... (goes away and checks.)

Ah, yes, I see they seem to have put all their wine on at full price, so the only offer left is the 25% off one.

Sneaky!

But it does include sherries and Madeiras.
Last day tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was in Sainsburys on Saturday, but didn't notice anything. They've re-arranged some of my regular food aisles, so I had other things to occupy my attention. Will head back there in the morning and go straight for the wine section, in the hope it's still on!

They have these offers several times a year. Plenty to keep a wine rack for modest consumption stocked, provided one doesn't miss them.

Don't forget that Sainsburys have the Nectar double up offer on their 'Taste the Difference' wines from 16-22/11. An excellent way of using Nectar points

It's back! Sainsburys 25% off all wine. Just restocked the wine rack.

Just in time for me. Just this week finished my penultimate bottle of red from previous stock. :D

Hi,

Tesco is 25% off 6 bottles (priced over £4.15) until 24/4/17 and Lidl has 20% off 3 bottles of its Wine Cellwr range until 19/4/17.

I like a full red and generally buy a Merlot or paper personal recommendations of wines below £10.

Reading the weekend papers I have found by Monday they have usually been sold out!

I will be near Lidl on Tuesday so would appreciate any lovely reds to snap up.

Thanks in advance.

Wuz (more a real ale man at heart)

For years now I have been registered with www.winesdirect.co.uk . It alerts you by weekly email to practically all wine offers. You can define your favourite wines and set target prices. When an offer comes up at that price it sends you an email alert. I think it makes money as you click through to look at or take advantage of the offers.

Hmmm, thanks for the Winesdirect link - that does look interesting. And the Asda deal (6 for £25) does seem to have at least one or two bottles that I wouldn't mind keeping in the emergency cupboard.

The only problem is where it says "Hurry, while stocks last! Ends Saturday 19th April 2017!". There isn't a Saturday 19th April. :? D'you think we should tell them?

Every so often, I seem to come across a bottle of Aussie cabernet shiraz that's much better than what they're charging for it. And then I go back and buy half a dozen more and it's quite different. The perils of wine-making in million litre vats, I presume?

My current fallback red is Sainsburys' £7 Primitivo, which is spicy and warm enough for a pleasant evening's sipping, and which also seems to be quite consistent. I bought a quick dozen recently when it was down to £6 (happens often), but was also under the 25% off offer, so that it only cost me £4.50. I only wish I'd bought more. ;)

Not sure if Sainsbury's sell this, but at Tesco I picked up a Yalumba Shiraz Viognier for £9 which is both interesting and enjoyable. Worth a try if you ever see it.

Sainsbury's do sell Yalumba's Viognier which I also like, but that's a white and less unusual compared to its red cousin of course.
