I am intending to make a year’s subscription to a wine club as a present. Currently thinking of using Virgin wines. Any opinions or suggestions for other clubs?

Thanks.

Why would you not just join the Wine Society? All other Wine clubs pale by comparison.

All the best, Si

Thank you Si - and it’s lifetime membership with the WS, not just a year. I will follow that up with a monthly stipend for the purchase of wines.

Yes, and I think you get some money off your first order with the membership fee. I've never used the monthly case of wine route as I don't drink that much! However, as a society run for it's members instead of outright profit, you can't beat it IMHO.

All the best, Si

I now know what I have for Christmas as I have just received an email from the Wine Society stating that one of my relatives has bought the life membership for me.
A very happy D.L.

Hello,

After being gifted lifetime membership, today, I made my first visit to the Wine Society's shop in Stevenage.

I was impressed. It was nice to be able to look around at leisure. I liked the fact that they had two different Tannats from Uruguay and also wine from Bierzo.
They also have wine tasting events and lunches and dinners.

I also noticed that they were building an extension to the facility to hold even more wine. :D

Happy, D.L.

You don't get through a case of wine in a month?

My wife and I can get through a case in a week. :P

I have been a member of the Wine Society for years, and been very happy with the service and prices. Despite that I have never been to the Stevenage HQ, although we did for a few years make an annual pilgrimage to the French shop in Montreuil sur mer, which was fun and a nice place to visit.

I have about 20 cases held in bond at the WS and I have to admit to getting through more than a 12 bottle case a month, but then again I like wine. :D
