Dark rum
I've sampled a few dark rums recently.
My undoubted favourite is Myers Original Dark Rum.
Are there any dark rum connoisseurs here that may care to comment.
Mixed with Coke, no ice, the flavour of Myers goes on and on.
Particularly enjoyed a wee rum dram watching the Boat Race and the Rangers V Celtic derby.
Scotview.

Re: Dark rum
Havana Club, either the 7 year old or the Especial. For Coke, I prefer the zero caffeine version as a mixer, it doesn't mask the rum flavour so much.

Re: Dark rum
I don't think I've had Myers, probably a bit like Lambs or Woods so not really my thing.
I prefer my rum golden but it's a bit of a continuum white - dark. I too like the Havanna, prefer the younger Especial to the 7 year old.
Flor de Cana is nice again I prefer younger, the 7 yo rather than 12, the older rums seem more molassesy to me.
Doorley's is tasty, Diplomatico is too dark for me.
As for Coke I can't agree. I most dark spirits neat over ice or like a bourbon taken down with a drop of branch, I like to taste the spirits and I don't really like pop anyhow. Rum I drink occasionally with ginger beer or ale.

Coke has three uses;
first, to dissolve rust.
second, to provide employment for dentists.
third, as an accompaniment to rum.
I rather like the Kraken Black Spiced.

Oh good lord no I can't handle the spiced rums, Particularly those that are are marketing driven and Kracken Black is up here with Deadmans fingers and Peaky Blinders spiced.

Woods 100 Navy Rum would be the correct answer
Washed down with a Craven A
- or has this rum stuff become trendy?

Re: Dark rum
I found Diplomatic "classy" and worth the extra cost. Just with water, no ice.
Havana Especial is I think sweeter than the 7 year old.

I recently bought a bottle of Lidl’s own brand LIBERTÉ spiced rum. It is a copy of Kraken Black Spiced, but significantly cheaper and very pleasant indeed.
