Majestic "mix 6" deal
Just thought I'd put this seperately - Majestic have comparatively high prices, unless you buy 6 bottles. I occasionally open the mailings and see "Save n% .." which generally just refers to this amazing "deal" that tends to being the mainstream wines down towards supermarket prices.
However I don't tend to go in as I fell pressured to buy 6, and would probably pop in for the odd bottle or 2 when passing if I didn't need to spend £80 to avoid feeling like I'd overpaid. But I do see people popping in for the odd one, hence the poll.

I've never shopped in Majestic, but I do note they have plenty of branches in Scotland.
I wonder what their prices are like, since such "multiple" offers on alcohol are unlawful here.
Scott.

Surely they are not unlawful provided they stick to the minimum unit price per unit? It may mean that to buy anything other than multiple offers are rather expensive though.

You may be right. Multi-buy offers were banned in Scotland in 2010, so "25% off 6 bottles" would have been unlawful.
The minimum alcohol unit pricing law came in 2018, so the previous law may have been repealed as redundant.
I have to say, though, you never see the "4 bottles of beer for £6" offers here that are/were pretty common in England.
Scott.

No it doesn't deter me. I don't shop there anyway. Indeed, I don't even know where my nearest Majestic may be: certainly not within shopping distance of anywhere I've lived this century.
Was that really the question you meant to ask?

I did not realise that multi buy offers were unlawful. I confess that I simply do not know how these things work. I just assumed that as long as the minimum price were unit was met, that that was it.

It appears (from a quick look on the website and playing around with which store to collect from) that in Scotland you get the 'mix six' price on single bottles.

We buy a bit from majestic (far too much) and confirm Scotland match the mix six prices for single bottles.
They might not be the cheapest but the staff are very good and very helpful in my experience.

Re: Majestic "mix 6" deal
Unlike most commenters I have shopped in Majestic although not frequently.
The main occasions being at Southampton before joining a cruise ship when perversely it was far far cheaper to take a couple of crates of wine onboard and then pay the $20 corkage fee per bottle rather than paying the exorbitant prices onboard.
Would I buy in Majestic other than that - no, because they closed most of my nearby branches!
But generally as Majestic started life as a wine warehouse then I would expect most of their customers to be buying in bulk and not individual bottles, so the constraint of the ‘buy 6’ promotion isn’t a concern.

A cruise to Cherbourg perhaps? But a couple of crates?? A teeeeny bit excessive for personal consumption.

14 nights onboard = 14 bottles. Plus of course beer, spirits, and cocktails bought onboard
