But, but.... the puzzling thing is do servers wear out then? Why was TLF fine three weeks ago then suddenly new servers are needed?

Just curious, not trying to quibble about the solution. Trying to understand.
I think we share the server hardware so the performance depends upon others. I guess we are solving this problem. All just my speculation. C.

Hmmm. Interesting, another forum I'm on having terrible issues with loading and noticed over say the last few weeks, this site been a tad slow, just thought it was my end or someting!

I frequent two other sites run, like TLF, by hobbyists. Both are running fine.

Every time I look at the home page recently there seems to be 500-600 guest users on the site. I just clicked through all the forums in turn, and none of them had more than about 6 users browsing them, and most had zero (not including me).

So what are the 500 guests doing? Is it some kind of low-key DDoS attack? Is this what's slowing the site down?

Scott.

The site's a lot zippier today, despite there still being 700+ "guests".

Thanks, if somebody fixed something.

Scott.

Funny - I'm thinking the opposite. When I click on anything, the screen goes semi-transparent grey/black, then in a while connects to the given page if one is lucky.

Slower than before.

For the past week or so, it's varied almost by the minute..... Slow Slow Quick Quick Slow
A wee bit irritating but usable.

With occasional exceptions, for the last few days pages take about 8 secs to load.
Not great.

I think only stooz can reliably answer that. He's already said he's working on getting the site somewhere quicker. I've seen no recent updates about it though.

Yes - suddenly the site today is working much faster than for several weeks.

ps this has been verified by Sunak (via the Treasury), Starmer (via Ms D Abbott), Davey (via Clegg), Flynn (from a stolen camper van), Farage (via Banks) and a couple of greeny people (via George Lucas).
