I have had a notification that I've been quoted, but there is no sign of the post. I assume the notification must remain if a post quoting you is subsequently deleted? I can't imagine the poster concerned would have posted anything reportable so, unless there is any other possible explanation, I'll assume they changed their mind and reported/deleted the post themselves. Still, I think it would be more satisfactory if the notification could have disappeared with the post and I wouldn't be left wondering!

I think I've seen this where the notified post has been moved to another board or where the poster deleted the post themselves.

I actually find it useful when that happens, because it is the only way that I know somebody replied to me and then the post was moderated.

I meant to add do you feel able to provide further detail? I haven't spotted one of those recently but I may follow the same place and can check back through my notifications, should you so wish.

I've also seen this arising where the poster has probably deleted the post such that it is not there to see but later the same day they've posted what would appear to be something related, probably edited.

I've had notifications to things that aren't there, but as I get so many notifications it's only a passing thought of 'whats that then....ooh, look, more things...'.

I'm way behind on that Topic and I have:

Reply from chevin, tjh290633, mickeypops, and 3 others in topic: "Investment Trust Income Portfolio for our Retirement"

I'm guessing one of the 3 others is the missing one, so can't help there, but there is someone on the Topic who does get replies that are deleted, as those replies are often impolite!

As you say, no "biggy" but you may be helping others who are confused by this (minor) issue.

Edit: melonfool has provided the answer whilst I was typing, slowly.
