A few boards have been moved to improve logical consistency. Nothing dramatic. Must dash, dspp

I thought there was something different, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I began to think it was just one of these happenings that increase with age like forgetting what it was I was going for when I got to the top of the stairs. I'm relieved to hear there has been a change - and I noticed it.

Bear with us as there may be a few "minor" adjustments of the "order" and other background actions.

One that I was thinking might be noticed sometime when things were tidied up, but seems not to have been this time: "Games, Puzzles and Riddles" apparently still doesn't qualify for "Interests - Culture, Leisure , Food and Nature", when it seems to me to be very much about a leisure interest!

Not sure what "logical consistency" means in this context, but finding "Investment Trusts and Unit Trusts" so far down in the menu structure seems odd to me. I know the sequence doesn't necessarily imply priority, but lots of folks come on here to view and post about ITs and Unit Trusts yet it's 29 down from the top. It has the 3rd most posts of the boards in these first 29 slots, being 'beaten' only by Beerpig's Snug (the 'Mornington Crescent' of LF) and HYP Practical (swollen by idpickering's daily news updates).

As people naturally start scanning down from the top, to have something so popular to LF posters and key to personal finance as ITs and Unit Trusts so low down on the list of boards seems wrong IMHO and may well result in that Board being neglected over time.

Same can be said for the 'Brokers and Share Dealing' board,, which has moved to last position in the Investors Roundtable section.

As a general comment.....

I used to moan about TMF when changes were made to the boards without warning. I hoped that things might be better on TLF.

Would it not have been possible to pre-announce that changes to the board structure were being contemplated and ask for comments/suggestions? I know this may cause extra work for the volunteers, but may result in a better result.

Thanks,

Adrian

Let me, as a moderator, own up to some responsibility for this.

At the weekend, I made a suggestion to the effect that it was silly having the REIT board and the Investment Trusts board in different places.

I suggested moving the REIT board to "Investors' Round Table", alongside Investment Trusts.

An alternative proposal was put forward, pointing out that this would not only perpetuate the illogicality of some of what was going on, but actually further it.

I agreed.

The boards as they are is probably (in my estimation) the most logical that they have ever been. They are simply different. It might take time to get used to it, for which we apologise, but they were set up in a hurry in the first place.

Speaking (without authority) on behalf on the management here, we are not good at pre-announcing. It's Stooz and Clariman, trying to perpetuate what we all enjoyed at TMF, but without the budgets.

I'm sorry, but there we are.

A valid point - i'm too much of a get stuff done person, my apologies. Whilst opening these changes for opinion is frought with problems (remeber brexit??) we always get differing opinions and no one ever really agrees  but I will take it on board and at least try to announce any changes.

They are usually infrequent.
