Invalid thank

Hi

I was trying to click the thumb-up- to-thank icon on a post, and it came up with this reply...

Invalid thank

I had previous tried to 'valid thank' it, but doing so had re-directed to another post in the thread that I'd already 'valid thanked'.

I'm also curious about the choice of works for the error message, as some might find it confusing, especially if they were recommending a person who was an invalid at the time of posting.

Or, is this more intended to be more of a pointed pish take of myself, inferring that my 'thank' was so poorly misguided that the only possible reason I could have offered up a thank for this particular post was because my thinking/thanking requirements must be akin to that of a mere invalid?

I recall the old form was to ask people to check the thanking system on your post but I'm not going to fall for that one.

Do you wish to point to where you were unable to thank (or maybe you want to keep it secret)?

Yes, thought it might be regarded as churlish to request people test the validity or otherwise of their thank on my post.

I suppose I could offer a reciprocal thank?

For want of being too literal and not getting the subtle rec-tarting -

this seems to happen now and then that the system registers the thank twice somehow and then tells you the second is invalid, not an invalid. If you check the post, IME, I have found the thank has been registered, so I've always assumed trigger finger from me pressing the key twice, but I do tend to think it is a [minor, unless you're a rec tart] system issue.

I was under the impression a second attempt would cancel the first. I recall receiving an unthanked notification in the past, which was preceded by a thank. Despite your mention of subtle rec-tarting, I’m forced to give it a bash in an attempt to replicate.

Edit: Yes - double clicking ends up with a thank that was not valid and yet the thank was registered.

Thank-tarting, surely?

I've now had a notification I've not seen before.

Removed Thank from *a fellow Lemon Fool* for the post "Invalid thank".

Obviously, I'd also received a thank before the thank was removed, so I'd like to thank my fellow Lemon for testing that both his/her own thank and
remove thank mechanisms worked effectively on my invalid thank post, which indicated the presence of some sort of failure rate for the thank mechanism.

But I can't, because they have not posted in this thread, only tested their thank on it.

I'm now going to go and test my thank on someone else's thread, but thanks to all for discussing the thank with me.

(It really was a lot easier to talk about recs baby)

Sounds too much like think-tanking which probably isn't really a thing (either).
