I demand equality

Well, unlike at TMF, there’s no specific board for insomniacs so why on earth not?

Slightly off topic, but given the number of book recommendations and requests recently can I recommend:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/231 ... of_Britain
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/231 ... of_Britain
As this book shows, the English have in fact spent much of the last 2000 years semi-permanently drunk.

I watched Prof. Alice Roberts' program about London last night. One of the points mentioned was that people in the city spent most of their time either half or totally drunk, so much so that when the coffee craze started in the 17th century they could suddenly see the world with clear vision - thus helping propel the age of reason. Serious business and advances were made in science and commerce (Lloyds of London started in a coffee house where trading was carried out). Think vibrate Theatre, the advances in science - particularly Navigation which started a major phase of British expansion - and commerce.
Well, I took it as a joke, an urban myth. Frankly, I think it was more to do with the ethos promoted by the restoration, but thinking again: it's possible that sitting around talking over strong bitter coffee (as it was then) did produce more action that drinking oneself under the table.

People didn't give up booze though. There was a terrible industrial accident in 1814 that also lead to 8 deaths.

Difficult question, but I think the best board depends on the stage one has reached in non-sobriety. In rough time order, Beerpig's Snug, then Drink, then Catastrophe Corner seem most appropriate to me... ;-)

Maybe a bright Fool could write a phpBB add-on that would track users' content for style; speling, hic; and lucidity to arrive at a personalised sozzled-score, which could appear beside each post for the benefit of readers?
