Nicola and Covid thread
I started this thread this morning and now when I want to go back to it I am told I am not authorised to read this thread! I am perplexed. What have I done and who decides these rules? I musty have been authorised this morning otherwise I could not have initiated it. What has happened in the meantime?

Hi Dod,
The thread has been moved to Polite Discussions, because:
a) we don't want another separate covid thread in the snug
b) the subject is specifically political.
You have to login to your profile and explicitly enable access to Polite Discussions. Click your name top right. It's in your User Control Panel on the "usergroups" tab.

It's been moved to the Polite Discussions board Dod, because you originally posted it in Beerpigs Snug where there's a no-politics rule, and on top of that, there's already a clearly marked COVID-related thread in the Snug with a title that says 'Beerpig's Snug No Politics Coronavirus Thread', so I would like to think that the intent to keep Beepig's Snug politics-free would be quite clear by now, especially to any regular poster...
If someone posted a new thread in the Snug titled 'Boris and Covid', the thread would have been moved to Polite Discussions in exactly the same way, so please don't feel as though you've been singled out here.
Your original thread is alive and well, and a shadow-link was left behind in the Snug to be able to navigate it from the original link there -
https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=26882
If you wish to join the Polite Discussions group, to be able to navigate to your moved topic and discuss these types of politically-related issues, then here are some instructions that Gengulphus kindly wrote up some time ago -

Re: Nicola and Covid thread
Thanks IAAG. For me to appear to initiate a post in Polite Discussions is very unusual, and frankly I do not see it as being political. Critical certainly and I am no supporter of our Nicola but simply commenting on a/ on any politician's comments on a totally non political subject does not make the post political surely? That is at the very least a very narrow definition.
However thanks for the pointer re how to join PD. Very simple when you know how.

Re: Nicola and Covid thread
Hi Dod,
I think discussing the performance of a politician is the very definition of politics. And likely to elicit strong and divisive arguments, hence why it is barred from the Snug.

Could someone kindly instruct me how to become a non member of the Polite Discussion Boards? I find it depressing.

Thank you. Very helpful and easy but my mind does not understand these things for some reason.
Breath a sigh of relief.

Wrong!!!!
The important step is "Pour yourself a good measure of Ardbeg* to celebrate or steady the nerves)
( * I have it on good authority that other whiskies are available)

The poor man was a member of Polite Discussions for just over 24 hours - I think *two* measures may be required...

Re: Nicola and Covid thread
It should be pointed out that there is no compulsion to read any thread on Polite Discussions, or anywhere else for that matter.
If a first look turns you off, do not click on it.

My trick is to post what you really think then ignore it for six months (unless there is a report). C.

I've always felt that NS comes across very well and I find her to be credible...unlike our P.M. of whom I have a 180° opinion.

I don't. I feel that if she were a dog she'd be one of those irritating yappy ones that nips at your ankles as soon as you turn your back. Mind you the recent vilification about a brief slip of her mask actually made me feel sorry for her. I fear that if I were to comment further it would be called political and the thread would be sent to you all know where.

Will someone please tell me who Nicola is please!
For all I know she could be some great political figure whom all Scotland and the world adores.
OK I'll fess up. We in Yorkshire have some regional needs of our own and have asked what the transfer fee would be. Our last attempt to take over the country failed when Arthur S lost the battle of Orgreave.
Merry Xmas
