DAK thread locked

I completely accept that this thread wandered far from a DAK remit but at the same time, the gratuitous opinion of one poster re insurers in general deserved, in my opinion, a response. Often a new thread is opened up in these circumstances and I feel that would have been a better outcome, or remove the gratuitous comments in the first place.

The site rules do not permit general discussion of moderation, and specific moderation issues should be raised in Room 101.

As such, this question is strictly off-topic.

However, I will (as the mod who locked the thread in question) provide a limited response.

The thread was locked as it was way off-topic for DAK. The particular responses which are referenced were not the sole reason for this action. In fact, the thread was already sufficiently off-topic before that diversion. Mods do not read every post (!) in real-time so it cannot necessarily be inferred which post tipped them over the edge into action (so to speak).

As further discussion would be in breach of the rules mentioned above, this thread is also locked. Any questions should be raised with the admins as indicated in the guidance.
