Cadbury's Creme Egg size

Reaching for a tasty treat of a Creme Egg off the shelf in Tesco this afternoon I find the things seem to have markedly shrunk in size. Anyone else notice this? Now seems that they are only available in "fun-size" (ie: not flippin' big enough!), weighing in at a paltry 40 metric grammes (or about an ounce and a third in real money). Just enough for a single mouthful, rather than two as before. Mutter grumble mutter grumble

I remember being able to get my head inside them.

They have shrunk plus I've grown.

Would like to see an old one next to a current version. Probably say it's better for you being smaller as you will get fat.

You need a Shropshire Egg.

Like a Scotch Egg, but with a Creme Egg in the middle, wrapped in a brownie, coated on thick chocolate, and dipped in sprinkles.

It is about the size of a cricket ball, costs a fiver, and took me 3 days to eat.

They are the same weight but the chocolate is not the same, no longer "dairy" chocolate whatever difference that makes.
In Europe they are not allowed to call 20% cocoa chocolate.

Thats incorrect, hotel chocolat may be following the stricter 25% EU regulation for their products and thinking it applies to the UK.

I guess we must have had some kind of opt-out specifically for Cadburys, I vaguely remember some argument about milk solids replacing the cocoa content.
When we rejoin will Cadburys be forced to change all their recipes to be 25%?

An interesting thought is how this affects chocolate which is made in Europe e.g. Terrys Chocolate orange is now made in France instead of York and has 25% cocoa.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to a Creme Egg discussion. Both Cadburys Dairy Milk, and the "standard cocoa mix chocolate" which replaced it in the Creme Egg in 2015, are 20% cocoa solids.

Creme Eggs are now made from "Cadbury Milk chocolate" instead of "Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate".

Which is a different recipe, but the exact difference seems a bit of a mystery.

American Creme Eggs are a different size to UK ones. UK ones haven't shrunk.
