cashback credit cards - 2020
I last asked this quedstion in 2017 it seems
We've been running on a mixture of american express platiunum cashback, and asda(creation) "cashback" credit vcards since then. Adsdahasnt goven real cashback for a wyile so we've been stuck with asda vouchers which are a bit of a PITA as you can only use them in stire and outr nearest asda is about 7 miles away or so. And Ive received a letter showing crteation are droipping support for ASDA CC so that deal is dead after July
* we need a mastercard/visa as not everywhere takes amex
* we pay off the CCs every month
* we dont need low interest rates as a result
* no need for swapping card debts etc
* no need/interest for airmiles
* cinema vouchers not any good really as they seem to be fopr national chains, the nearest of which if 13 miles away and stinks, while we have a perfectly adeuate local independent that is only a fiver per film anyway
So bascially we want cashback? But that seems a dieing breed ... so I guess the next best is some vouicher scheme but there is limited interest there bu7t if needs must.
Ive looked at MSM and the best I can find is a barcalycxard at 0.25% cashback paid. (See above - we already use AMEX)
can anybody suggest any thing they know of that _may_ be suitable. Ive not added any more parameneters so as to keep it as broad for suggestions (even if they don't eventually suit)

If asda is no good for your shopping what about tesco or sainsbury? It's vouchers, well points that you turn into vouchers I use a Tesco CC and they send me vouchers to be spent in their stores. Amex platinum is mine for hard cash too. M&S - I scrapped my card, vouchers again and I don't really shop there, I see they have an introductory offer worth £20 in points for new customers. https://bank.marksandspencer.com/credit ... lus-offer/

My Barclaycard Visa still gives 0.5% cashback on everything with no upper limit. Have had it for years.
Perhaps they don't give that to new customers now?

Unfortunately our nearest tesco is even fuether than asda, and sainbury's is useless in our town. Morrison's is about the only real "working" supermarket in town - we do have an M&S food ... i just dont use iot much as its such a small limited store. Otherwsie there is iceland which i rarely use at all.
That doesnt mnake your suggestion wrong generally spoeaking. It just doesnt work around here

Did you follow my link and read the whole page it's mostly there in features and benefits - Both points in store or anywhere else, the points exchange for M&S vouchers more points for in store.

Re: cashback credit cards - 2020
didds, I ditched my card about a year ago and i can't remember the rates - 1p per point sounds right. They were good for overseas currency and I got points on that so when I switched to currency cards I lost that advantage. The intro rate of £20 for 2000 points is 1p per point isn't it?
I've got a Tesco card and I don't know what my rate is on that either .5% same as Amex?

Re: cashback credit cards - 2020
cheers KJ - a quick look online at tesco CC shows its 1 point per £4, so 0.25% in effect to spend instore at tesco (or other deals which never seem to apply to me ) . The M&S 1p in £5 equates to 0.2% for M&S vpouchers.
I may as well take the Barclaycard at 0.25%, but also grab a M&S card for me, and separately one for the wife just to pick up the free £25 (in effect) each [ assuming we both get approvced etc ]. It wont get used after that..

Re: cashback credit cards - 2020
I haven't paid attention to the rate recently, but most of my spending goes on a Nationwide Visa card that still offers cashback.
The card calls itself "Select credit card", which I think is Nationwide's name for this particular card.

The John Lewis Partnership card gives points which are 1% in John Lewis and Waitrose and 1/2% elsewhere. Rewards are in the form of John Lewis vouchers. It helps to have both a John Lewis and Waitrose within a few miles.

Even better to work for John Lewis or Waitrose and you get Partner discount of 12/25% (depends on product type) for the former and (currently) 25% for the latter (reducing to 20% in July but used to be 15%) as well as the CC cashback...

Re: cashback credit cards - 2020
im using amex where i can for 1% cashback , then paying for anything else using a halifax rewards debit card - as long as you spend £500 per month you get £5 cash the following month , so its like 1%
also when it comes to paying the credit card bill , pay it with your halifax debit card , as that counts as a debit card spend
this month everything went on the amex , and I paid £500 using my Halifax debit card and im getting £5 for it - so equivilent of 2%
only time it wont work is if you dont spend £500 in a month

Iceland do a bonus card which they will give you a pound for every £20 you top up on it. They'll do free delivery if over £30 too.

They will be changing the rules from September.
John Lewis and Waitrose points increase to 1.25%, but elsewhere reduces to 1/4%.

£35 for a free delivery ATM - load up the card online with £40, wait 15 mins and the card gets credited with £2, then go ahead and spend.
I had no problem getting a next day delivery slot, but then again, not everyone wants an 0600-0800 slot (turned up at 0730)

Wilkinson do a similar card to Iceland......load £100 on the card and you get an extra £5 or £6.
