Curious thing is Santander has given me a credit limit of almost 4 times what Amazon gave me (and I was happy enough with the latter).

There's a £3 monthly fee for the Santander card though, isn't there?

Then I may do the same, thanks. I closed my HSBC Mastercard account a couple of years ago because I had a Visa credit card with Nationwide where I bank and it was just one more account I didn't need except for the odd rare occasion. I wouldn't need one now were it not for Amazon requesting it. I suppose I could just hold off and see if they resolve their differences or just go with the debit card option. I'm not sure I really need the section 75 protection anyway, I never have before. Even as I write that I'm thinking, I'm going to need it now, you watch.

make sure you haven't copied a space at the end

Mind you, I havent a c;lue how to use the balance on the gift card without removing any cr5edit cards in the wallet cos my initial attempts debited my credit card without giving me an option to choose to use the gift card balance!
