Amex cashback incentive

Hi all

I phoned Amex yesterday to cancel my credit card. As an incentive to stay I was offered an extra 1% cashback on top of the 0.25% the card was paying, for the next three months.

I declined as my new credit card is on a par (and I'd already changed payment details over to the new card), but might be a good tactic for anyone with high spending coming up in the next couple of months. Although obviously I don't know what eligibility criteria Amex uses - I spent on average £600 a month (paying off in full each time) and had had the card for two years.
