I don't even know what you mean by "pretty punchy".

Have you looked at their accounts and come to some conclusion about them?

A very good question. Almost every week we read of care homes being squeezed by council cuts etc, I believe Albion Care Homes are at the upper end of the market so not really affected by these cuts, but a headwind is still a headwind.
On the other side of the coin, Albion normally achieve good sales of their assets, so I guess we just have to accept that they have a pretty vigorous mark to market/valuation scheme. A good question to pose at their AGM's though, ditto Radnor schools

Take Shinfield (it looks fabulous by the way). I make the given valuation as £34.5M for 66 rooms. That is a little over £500K per room. £1500 quid a week (an average guess, voids etc) per room equals £78000 gross income per year. I don't know what the profit would be but guess 50%. So £39K per room times 66 gives a profit of circa £2.5M......does that equal a valuation of £34.5M....I am curious as to what others think. Certainly the site and building would be 15 - 20% of this figure. Is it profitable enough as a business to justify this valuation??

I chanced upon this article about valuing care homes.
https://truelegal.co.uk/buying-a-business/how-to-value-a-care-home-or-nursing-home-business/
While it doesn't help give a figure, it does give some insight into this particular market.

This seems as good a place as any to note the outcome of Albions 2019/20 fund raise

from https://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/londo ... i/79685238
The Offers which constitute separate offers have been fully subscribed
and all have been closed. The total amount raised across the Albion
VCTs under the Offers is GBP48m
(of which GBP2.6m relates to this tax
year 2019/2020).

I was surprised by how little was subscribed in this tax year (just over 5%). It seems that investors really do wait till the end of the tax year which was understandable when you could roll over CGT but seems odd when you can get the tax back early and get the benefit of an extra year's dividends.

II didn't invest in any VCTs in 2018/2019 but in other recent years I have waited until fairly late in the financial year. My reason being that I had had two years when I had bought early and ended up with more relief than I could use due to a lower than expected tax bill.

Years ago it was tempting to buy some shares for two years at a time to take advantage of early-bird discounts but they are fewer and often smaller these days. Baronsmead didn't do two year offers in case there were changes made in the spring budget that would affect later allocations.

Not yet. They did say they'd be posted within 15 working days of the allocation, so for April 1st that would be next week sometime I should think, taking the Easter Bank Holidays into account.

I received my British Smaller Companies share certificate today (issued 1st April) but I have still to receive my Northern 2 share certificate (issued 2nd April).
There seems to be no great concern for security - you have very little idea when the VCT share certificates will be received, so you can't promptly report that they have gone missing. However in 14 years of purchasing VCTs the certificates have always ultimately arrived. I suspect all of the early April purchases should arrive sometime in the next week.

I too received my British Smaller Co. paper certificate yesterday but am waiting for my Albion ones to come through.
I asked HL earlier last week and they said that they should arrive in the next few weeks.

On a related note, I subscribed to my VCT this year and last via HL and have received the paper share certificates.
What are the options for holding these via a nominee account - who provides this service ? is there a cost?
I'm just minded that perhaps either I or my successors will not be able to put hands on the paper certificates in 5 years time.
thanks

We've discussed that right here and within the past couple of weeks. One option is the same broker you bought through, and where all my VCTs are now lodged.

Gostevie, Scotia
I also received my BSC/BSV certs Thursday, I did call Albion to ask if their certs had been posted yet and was told "probably around 24th this month".
