Disclosure of proxy votes

#246743

Postby Gostevie » August 24th, 2019, 12:14 pm

On the current Albion thread, which I don't wish to prolong, BusyBumbleBee wrote:

"I gather the chairman announced that the vote at the EGM was 70% but the company has not published the voting/proxy votes which surely need to be published."

Even though I supported and voted in favour of this particular resolution I do feel that the result of proxy votes should always as a matter of course be disclosed in AGM Results Statements.

How can it be fair that the tiny percentage of shareholders like myself who are fortunate enough to live in or near London and are able to attend AGMs are privy to information that is not disclosed to the vast majority?

Stevie, some companies publish the voting details in the RNS and some post on their websites.

Albion have posted on their website. I have no dog in this game but the detail exceeds anything I have ever seen published, but is consistent with what boards receive. BTW AIM companies have no such requirement to publish.

Hi Tolmers,

Thank you. That is very helpful. I hadn't realised any of that.

I have noticed in the past that Baronsmead don't issue details of their proxy voting. See for example this AGM result RNS announcement:-
https://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/news/market-news/market-news-detail/BVT/13984218.html

One year I requested details and was quickly given the full information but I feel they should have put the figures in the RNS as Gostevie says.
