Best VCT 2019 Award

I see Amati won the VCT sector outright this year, in the Investment week awards.
Must be a source of some comfort to them after the dismal performance of the AIM market these past 12 months, which has seen the issue price in their new offerings drop from around 184p last autumn to just under 150p for yesterdays issue.
I guess, being subjective, that a fall of 34p from 184p given some AIM stocks travails goes down in the books as "a result" ?

Yes the purchase in October 2018 at 186p was an uncomfortable experience - slightly redeemed by a further purchase in February 2019 at 143p
There were also Dividends of 3.5p in November 2018, 4.0p in July 2019, and 3.5p in Nov 2019 - so taking these into consideration, the 12 month drop has not been quite so bad. :(

Scotia
Agreed, I really should have taken note of the dividends rather than just the crude numbers !
The other thing Ilike with Amati is that they are very approachable for their shareholders. It must be said, however, that some of the AIM placements they have participated in have been rather bullish, to say the least; for example i-nexus global where they invested £2.5mill 2 years ago, 3.2million shares at todays mid price of 21p is a value of £672K, quite a book loss, Bonhill, loop up group & fair fx have also been large stakes taken at the placing and a very much lower price today. Not to mention that the largest holding in Jan 19 was accesso, a stock they still hold and a huge success in the past, but was £30 in Oct 18, £14.30 at year end, Jan 31 2019, and just over £5 today.
There are more but of course it is always lemons before plums and we must expect lemons in vct's. What I wonder is if this performance is due to the new rules, the fund growing greatly in size or the possibility that the departure of Doug Lawson to his start up last year was a turning point ?
At the i nexus presentation in the 2018 agm (which the video for is still on their website when I last looked), the lady replacement for Lawson was saying that when they looked at i-nexus she and the team took a long time to understand what the company did. As Buffet said in a typical pearl of wisdom "only ever invest in companies that a fool could run, because some day a fool will be running it".
With a £1.8mill book loss on i-nexus it is, as ever, hard to bet against Buffet !
An interesting conunderum though, is it new rules or new staff ?

Sorry, I should have said Accesso was one of their largest holding, not the largest !
