Yahoo data flakiness

In case I'm the only one who's noticed it, Yahoo's data has been (even more) flakey than usual recently. I'm often having to refresh multiple times in both HYPTUS and Eventide's Excel tool before they supply the right prices. I'm also seeing similar behaviour with one of my phone apps so I'm sure it's Yahoo rather than any issue with either of these excellent tools. The figures are so far off in some cases that I suspect that they are somehow pulling very old data. Not sure if it's random or if all prices that are affected but I have noticed that Greene King and National Grid seem to be affected more than any others in my portfolio. Don't trust that first refresh!

I can't say I've noticed a problem lately, though I don't update prices that frequently. I used to see a problem with some ITs bouncing between pounds and pence but I haven't seen that problem for some time.

I'll perhaps set up a process to monitor prices every 5 minutes or so and compare with another site such as ADVFN

Yes, I have noticed this recently as well (especially with NG.) - the Yahoo data feed has been returning 'last trade' data from the start of the previous day. It sometimes corrects on the new refresh but not always.

My SS reports the trade time and date, so I immediately see any such anomalies and refer to another source for the current price if needed.

I noticed this on the 30th Friday which was my tax year end and I was still refreshing on Sunday as the prices kept changing.

The Yahoo price for GNK does vary oddly at times compared to ADVFN, and the bid/offer prices also.

Glad to see I'm not the only one! At one point late last week NG was flipping between the low 800s and the middle 700s, which it hadn't been since around the 27th March, every time I refreshed.

In the testing I have done so far, all of the errors in the GNK price occur with a timestamp of April 5 4:35PM BST. I have no idea why it seems to have this fascination with last thursday's close. I haven't seen any such problems with SSE, nor with National Grid which I have now added in to the test.

Just had Greene King give me 484p and then immediately after 470p. One-day graph say's it's never been above the openng price of 474p.

And more Yahoo weirdness.

Yesterday I noticed that MPAC (MPAC.L) (used to be called Molins till a couple of months ago) wasn't returning any share price data. At various times yesterday the line on the Yahoo site was "greyed out" and it is again today.

And now the line for the FT All Share has gone too.

Hmm, now Digital Look seems to be having problems with MPAC too, yet their own website http://mpac-group.com/investors/share-price/ has no such problems.

Could be a co-incidence or not buton TATE page in yahoo is keeps changing to "priced in USD" when the price downloaded in a blank. When the instrument set up changes back to normal the price shows again OK. This was going on back and forth every 20seconds ago around 5pm yesterday.

Whatever is causing the TATE probelms, it is also affecting MRW and PFG and all at the same time. All three return info or don't return info, never just one or two of them.

It's getting silly now. On the portfolio page Galiford Try just came up as 1007p - allegedly having dropped by 31p - on two out of three refreshes. In reality it hasn't been above 1000p since 21st Jan.
Imperial Brands seems to be about 100p above where it should be too. However both those seem to come up correctly using Eventide's Excel plugin.

MPAC is still dropping in and out - mostly out. And has been out on the plugin all the time
And yesterday the FT All share dropped out again.

Trust nothing without checking with another source!
