Blimey, monetary evolution is moving along at a bit of a clip. If you've got a tenner with Darwin on it, you've got ten days left to spend it or turn it in for a plastic Jane Austen. And there was I, thinking we were trying to cut down on all the petrochemical by-products and go back to paper?

Answer me that, then, Mr so-called Carney. I await your response, sir.

Re: Changing the tenor
the bbc wrote:The deadline to spend or exchange old £10 notes - featuring naturalist Charles Darwin - is 1 March.
and in the same article.
the bbc wrote:The Bank will exchange all old £10 notes indefinitely.
My guess is that the author of the article is confused about "legal tender" and whether the bank will exchange the notes. If the notes are legal tender then shops are required to accept them in payment. Unsurprisingly that will have a deadline on it as they are trying to get them out of circulation.
There is, however, no reason for a deadline for exchange by the Bank of England.

Re: Changing the tenor
The BoE have an interesting page about withdrawn bank notes with all of them
https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknot ... -banknotes
Looking at this there is never a deadline for exchange by the BoE
