Having admitted last year's Man on the Moon Christmas ad was a bit sad, John Lewis have come out with a lighter one https://youtu.be/sr6lr_VRsEo featuring Buster the Boxer.

Just watched that before coming here...amazing CGI. How do they do that?

Big computers? Apparently Buster is a real dog, with CGI enhancement, all the other animals are pure animation.

Cool ad! I've got rather weary of John Lewis's touchy-feely emotional shortcuts during the last few Christmases, but that one hits the spot. Really excellent. Why, I could almost (but not quite...) forgive them for putting it out ahead of Remembrance Day.

Will it make me want to rush out to JL and buy (a) a dog, (b) a badger, (c) a couple of foxes? I rather doubt it. A trampoline? Also dubious. But if we're talking about getting JL's name out there, this'll do nicely. Beats the shallow consumerism of the House of Fraser ad, that's for sure.

Pro-fox, pro-badger, pro-ethnic diversity, pro-grey (grey!) squizzle, pro-hedgehog, and I've just got a Sports Direct 'Price Buster' email detailing that very trampoline for only £69.99 (animals not included) so pro-Sports Direct.

Controversial, very controversial.

Love it! I'll be getting a trampoline for our foxes!

Trampolines for foxes what a great idea - it'll make potting them that much harder - more sporting somehow :)

It didn't take long for this spoof to come out...

Just brilliant, Bree. The wife came rushing in to find out why I was laughing so hysterically. That one's going to go round like wildfire, methinks.
