Online pharmacies

Does anyone have any experience with and can recommend (or recommend against) any particular online pharmacy, specifically for the use of repeat prescriptions?

And if so, how does it integrate (or not) with Patient Access repeat medications?

Looking for one that's free.

Lloyds Direct is free. They can get it wrong however. That's the only one I've tried.

Thanks. Can to expand on "they can get it wrong", please? What, how, how often, etc, and what action from you is needed to sort it out. And are you still with them despite it?

Lloyds Pharmacy which happens to be in our local Sainsbury. Works well with online repeat orders. Some problems initially but resolved.

I order through Patient Access online and then say " please deliver to Sainsbury Pharmacy " in the comment box . I get a txt msg to say when it is ready for collection.

Sorry, to be clear I am asking about only-online ("virtual") pharmacies where you order online and they deliver to you.

Just about all physical pharmacies have order online and collect yourself capability nowadays, but of course that's limited to the ones you can conveniently get to.

Yes, as already mentioned by Leothebear, but if you are going to pick it up you are not using LloydsDirect, you are just using the "regular" Lloyds Chemists service, so you can't tell me about your experience of LloydsDirect, which is really what I'm asking for.....

(BTW, OT hint: if you set it up to be your nominated pharmacy in Patient Access you won't need to put "please deliver to Sainsbury Pharmacy" in the comments box each time.)

I use ophamacy2u. Everything smooth - it still depend son the surgery/GP getting their bit right of course, andf then the delivery service ditto.

Well they don't always send the things I've ordered. I have 5 meds and initially a month's worth of all five were delivered. Then I started to get meds I didn't need and not get the ones I'd exhausted. I have never had a med sent that wasn't of my list however (so not that wrong.

It's still better than going to the pharmacy.

They were the first one I looked into, largely 'cos they stuck a flyer in my front door recently, but a quick google showed some concerning history:

Still, those were a few years ago (2015 & 17).

I dont know what "patient access" is TBH, but the NHS App does indeed show pharmacy2u as mu nominated pharmacy

You request a repeat prescription online via them, your GP approves it and P2U then issue it. At least in my expereince of a few years etc.

They do send you reminders but I ignore them and just keep an eye on my meds and order when I've a couple of weeks stock left.

Thanks. Patient Access is another system for accessing your GP etc, like the NHS App and has the same functionality. It's been around for many years (the NHS App is very much a late comer to the game), and I slightly prefer it, mostly due to familiarity really.

So, rather than requesting the repeat prescription from P2U, have you tried requesting it through the NHS App? If P2U are your nominated pharmacy that should work. If you haven't tried it already give it a go next time.

I ask 'cos I'd just prefer to keep the number of websites/apps I have to deal with down to a minimum.

I use Patient access but pick mine up
Their website is VERY easy to use and I aways get mine 2 days after ordering, sometimes the next day

I don't use either of those apps.

I used to request medicine online through my GP's website, and then pick it up at one of four or five local pharmacies. But given the distance we are from our local market town, this was sometimes a bit of a drag.

Switching to Well, I thought that I would continue to request via my GP, and that Well would fulfil it. But no: I have to log onto Well's website. The process is painless, and the whole transaction takes around a minute.

I hadnt - I've just put a request in via NHS app. It seems to have at least registered/ordered - I'll await further action etc to see what really happens

Hmm...that's curious. Does your GP have their own custom system and not offer access via the NHS App, Patient Access, etc, etc?

Anyway, so how long does it typically take for the meds to arrive in your hands?
