Household Chores
I’ve been in Crimea for the last couple of weeks with the Mrs as she has had to have a operation.
The Op happened this morning and she’s convalescing.
According to the Russian news this afternoon, there’s another lockdown looming so I need to get back to the UK and leave the Wife behind.
So far, so good.
But it’s suddenly occurred to me that I have no one to do my laundry and ironing for the next month.
Does anyone have any great ideas?
Thanks,
HYD

You could always learn to do it yourself. I had to when my wife had a major operation.
It is more likely that Russia may move onto the Red List than we go to Lockdown again. I think that HMG will do their utmost to ensure that it does not happen.

So how much better is their health service than ours?
I hope we resist calls for another lockdown. Our Lords and Masters may be idiots, but I think at least some of them understand that with no exit strategy it's all pain for no gain. And where's the exit strategy if vaccination wasn't it?

What did you do between leaving your Mum and Dad's and finding your Mrs?

Maybe it's a Russian lockdown he's talking about.

Private healthcare is a fraction of the UK price so it was a no brainer.

Yes, I must have worded my post badly.
Seems that Moscow* is locking down again for 10 days from October 28. They have also ordered all unvaccinated residents over 60, as well as unvaccinated people "suffering from chronic diseases," to remain home for four months until late February. Only 30% are fully vaccinated.

* The only way in and out of Crimea now via passenger plane is via Moscow. You can no longer fly over Ukraine to get here.

Problem solved......check into a decent hotel and they will handle all that stuff for you......laundry, bed making, cooking meals etc.

Re: Household Chores
Is the Crimea Russia?
Anyway assuming the OP is serious, if he has a washing machine at home (other than his wife that is) he could always look up the operating manual and discover how to make it work. All he has to do then is learn how to iron. The easy way though is to find a laundry who will do it for him and sometimes for a fee the operators of launderettes will do it for him. All is not lost.

Is this the first ever post that begins 'I've been in Crimea'...
Sounds like a Graham Greene novel.
As regards laundry, do as Reacher does.

His servants did the housework, of course.

Laundry is easy. Stuff everything into the washing machine with either a 'colours' or 'normal' thingy (read the instructions) and put on a 60'C for whites or 40'C for coloureds.
You only have to iron what is going to be visible and important for you. At this time of year, very little. Besides, your body heat will make most creases fall out. e.g. bed sheets.

Great advice, Steve. But it does depend on Howyoudoin being able to pick the washing machine out from the other appliances, and locate the iron and ironing board.

Lots of people of moderate means hire cleaners. We have one who comes weekly, to perform the tasks we don't want to do. £10 to £20 an hour cash in hand seems to work. She is Polish, of course.
The OP could find some home help temporarily.

Re: Household Chores
You could hire someone to do the cleaning and ironing, etc. There are a number of businesses which offer this type of service,
