One of those being a Tiger Moth derivative, a De Havilland DH82b Queen Bee:

Reminds me of when I learnt to fly; I was in a Cessna 152 when over the radio a Boeing 747 announced that he was just about to fly over my airfield's Control Tower. As I was currently over the tower, a blind panic ensued, with me staring wide-eyed all around, desperately trying to find him before he ran me down!
Needless to say, he was about 10km above me. I was just thankful that I had been allowed to go solo and my instructor hadn't witnessed my foolishness

Wow, indeed Singapore Air, 4-engine =A380-800? When I was living in Singapore they'd take off twice a day from Changi and you could hear them from miles away, aka 'The window-rattler'.

I first saw an A380 over Windsor.
Initially thought 'that's a bit low' then realised it was actually enormous

Yes surprisingly so. We lived about 8 miles from Changi and were well away from the flight-paths so heard no civilian aircraft, except the A380s taking off, IIRC twice a day, which were unmistakable.

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
No pic (sorry) but I'll raise you the sound of a Lancaster bomber, which flew low over our house last weekend on its way downto the Fleet Air Arm show. There's only the one of them still flying, and it's only just completed an engine overhaul. Burbleurbleurbleurbleurble, those beautiful Merlins. Having previously lived close to an airfield where Spitfires and Hurricanes were frequent, I heard it about twenty miles off. Oh, for a decent camera at that moment.

This display of wildflowers looks pretty good. They have grown on top of a heap of earth. Not sure if they were planted or if they were just seeds present in the soil when it was dumped.

I love these kind of juxtapositions. Ideally I want a 'proposition' [such an image] to make you think 'Huh, what's actually happening here?'

What are you using to 'get it up' ? I can't seem to find a way. I've a lot of old/better pix on Photobucket but it's issuing various threats re: subs and not working/linking.

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
They're schooling Jackfish (aka Trevally), a habit they have in the summer. Snapper do the same too. If you are slow and careful you can dive beneath the 'cylinder' of fish, and ascend slowly through it as it spirals around you, parting wider as you ascend through the cone of hundreds or thousands of fish. I've only managed to do this fully successfully once, off Shark Reef in Sharm, Egypt, in the summer, with snapper. Though I've seen these spirals in a few other places. In evolutionary terms it's about strength/defence in numbers. When the spirals form, the 'pro tip' is to dive deeper, out into the blue, that is when you might be lucky enough to find the big sharks, that these spirals are intended to defend against.
