A man who crossed the Irish Sea from Scotland to the Isle of Man "on a Jet Ski" to visit his girlfriend has been jailed for breaching Covid-19 laws.

Douglas Courthouse heard 28-year-old Dale McLaughlan took four-and-a-half hours to travel from the Isle of Whithorn to Ramsey on Friday.

McLaughlan, from North Ayrshire, made the crossing despite having never driven a water scooter before.

Prosecutors said the 28-year-old bought the vehicle and set off on the journey of about 25 miles (40km), which he had expected to take 40 minutes.

After he arrived in Ramsey at about 13:00 GMT, he walked another 15 miles (25km) to his girlfriend's home in Douglas

I thought the seas around the IoM were very rough, and how he navigated I have no idea.

Jailed? Was it non-consensual? Just him and the sea so an environment free of covid. It's not that warm out to be doing that.

Hopefully an honours awaits ... :D

They can be rough (I've seen them when the remnants of an Atlantic hurricane have been passing through, not survivable on a jet ski!) but they also have quite strong currents, regardless of the weather. Friday (when the crossing occurred) was half way between neaps and springs, so still quite challenging. Even hitting the Isle of Man would have been impressive, as the view of the horizon from a jet ski would have very limited visibility of any land mass, even if the weather was flat calm, let alone any mist or waves getting in the way!

If only he'd cycled part of the journey, he could have at least claimed a new triathlon record. As it is, he's managed to get himself a criminal one that will follow him around for years. What a shame and what a waste.

Hope she's worth it!

Why, obviously she's a fairytale princess. Hence the epic quest for her.

It looks like you have at least one supporter :D
St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin was sent off for over-zealous celebrations amid the late bedlam, but his side were deserving of the stunning upset over their Premiership rivals.

It certainly makes me go oooh!!!!

Apologies if the link is transitory - and it disappears before you see it. The lady in question, dressed in a swim suit, is wading into the loch, wielding a sledgehammer to break the ice in front of her.

Good for her. The swim through the hole in the ice (serious, solid ice you could skate on) is traditionally the second half of a sauna. Sustain you through the dark Scandinavian winter.

I fear I've chickened out of a similar swim, though I have waded in far enough for a full body wash in a mountain lake with icebergs calving off the glacier into it.

I see she considers it at least cold enough to need gloves....

Hackers use ransomware to lock up internet-enabled (male) chastity belts
https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/hacke ... ity-device

"A published security flaw in an internet-enabled male chastity device was exploited by an attacker to remotely lock in wearers until they paid 0.02 bitcoins, valued around $270 around the time of the attacks, according to reports.

The Cellmate Chastity Cage, built by Chinese firm Qiui, is a connected sex toy with a companion app that can lock/unlock the device remotely over bluetooth."
