Re: Chateau cock-up
It's Asda's turn to do a 25% off 6 deal. The deal ends 3/11. Here are the cheapest deals for decent wines...
£6
https://groceries.asda.com/product/view ... 0002993616
https://groceries.asda.com/product/all- ... 0034704421
Both of these are usually £10. I like them, full of fruit.
https://groceries.asda.com/product/merl ... 0001825117
Oyster Bay @ £6, it's got to be good.
£5.25
https://groceries.asda.com/product/all- ... 0001812093
https://groceries.asda.com/product/merl ... 0001170480
Errazuriz make some expensive fine wines, this isn't one of them but at this price it's great value
£4.87
https://groceries.asda.com/product/rioj ... 0003000631
I prefer the Tempanillo but at this price the Garnacha is good
£4.50
https://groceries.asda.com/product/malb ... 0001546231
https://groceries.asda.com/product/merl ... ot/1270462
Enjoy.

Tesco were mentioned today at LBYM:

Thanks for the heads up. Let's see...
£6.75

My favourite cheap wine, just buy it and enjoy
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /259578506
The Merlot is shown below at £6. Both great at these prices.
£6.37

£6

Trivento Private Reserve. The cheaper Trivento is £4.50 at ASDA, take your pick.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /261618256
SAme price as ASDA, Too good to miss.
£5.25
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /299531340
Same price as ASDA
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /251277604

£4.50
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /254192146
The best of the Casillero Del D budget range in my view. I like it a lot at this price, normally £8
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /274261812
The Malbec from the same range. Try it and see which you prefer.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /251886407
A decent wine, normally £7.
In my view these are all excellent wines when compared to the competition in their price ranges.

Re: Chateau cock-up
Sainsbury's are now doing 25% off 6. Due to end 3/11.
Here are the highlights.
£6.37
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gr ... serva-75cl
This is the same price as at Tesco
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gr ... erlot-75cl
Only £6 at Asda and Tesco but if you only shop at Sainsbury's this is still worth the money
£4.50
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gr ... -7953670-p
That's about it. Sainsbury's rarely excel at the discount wine offers.

Re: Chateau cock-up
For those who prefer whites, Asda is selling Makaraka Sauvignon Blanc at £4.99.
Definitely not plonk. More rounded than the usual Brancott or Villa Maria but nearly as good (and perhaps even 'longer') than the current Villa Maria Private Bin 2018/19.
A steal at the price.

Thanks very much, I might stock up on a few of those.

I don't drink whites so it would be pointless me trying to post on them. If you have any other suggestions I'm sure they would be very well received.

Re: Chateau cock-up
Jut stocked up on Tesco's offer. Though sadly our local Tesco is a modest size and has a range that's very limited compared to Sainsbury's where I used to live - and whose wine offers have hitherto stocked my rack.
Can't understand the trendy obsession with Sauvignon Blanc. Calls itself dry, but I find it sickly-sweet and disgusting (love a genuine dry white, and also very occasionally also enjoy an honestly-sweet one). Twenty years ago I was hugely impressed by some delicious Hungarian dry whites; since then the Italians and most recently French have really upped their games and brought us some wonderful stuff, largely using hitherto-obscure grapes.
Red wine is still more reliable from the new world, pioneered by Oz, headed by Chile, and with Argentina now a very serious contender. Europe produces many gorgeous reds, but they can be more hit-and-miss if you buy a random "looks interesting" bottle. It would take a lot to beat the Argentinian Malbec I polished off a couple of days ago.

Tesco are at it again. 25% off 6. I'm fully stocked but if you need a top up here are the highlights as far as reds are concerned.
£7.50
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /304399039
Let's splash out. This will challenge yor tastebuds. A proper wine that would benefit from a year or two more in the bottle. The tannin needs to mellow a little but very drinkable. I had to have a second bottle a few days after the first to appreciate the complexity. If you like it buy a dozen and hide them away for a year or two.
£6
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /296704688
A nice Argentinian Malbec. Normally £10, now £6.
£5.25

At this money this is great value. Normally £9
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /295235927
Try this for a change to the wines I normally recommend. Normally £9
£4.87
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /250218971
Always reliable. A good everyday wine.
£4.50
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /254192146
My favourite Casillero Del Diablo
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /274261812
Chilean Malbec from Cas Del D. My taste buds prefer the one above. Yours might prefer this.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /251886407
A drinkable Chilean Pinot Noir. It won't break the bank.

Spend £60 and get 10p off per litre isn't bad at all. Last time I filled up I only put in half a tank just in case. As the vouchers last for about 2 weeks from issue I think I will get about 70 litres in next time.
Thank you for letting me know the posts are useful. I'm never sure if people find them of much value. I do these posts because I go through the offers each time anyway, It only takes me about 15 minutes each time to put it down in a suitable format for the post.

Would they be more useful on a standalone thread, suitably titled, rather on this one?

The original post was in reply to another post on this thread regarding cheap wine. Once I started I thought it better to keep the posts together.
If moderators decide the posts should be rehoused then so be it. I do post on other boards but always feel the snug is my spiritual home on TLF.

I looked at Clubcard Plus and decided not to make a decision at that time. I may have to revisit that 'decision'. (it makes sense to me.)
You can get a lot of wine for £400 buying the way I do. I'm not sure my wife would approve or my doctor.
