I particularly like the cockapoo at Linlithgow Loch.

At Dunnet Head on Sunday - the most northerly point on Mainland UK. The Sun was shining behind us - but the showers were about to arrive!



Over fifty years ago we were at Dunnet Head in late spring when the sea birds were arriving to nest - after 8 months at sea. They were having to re-learn forgotten skills - on how to land on the cliffs. The puffins were particularly comic - as they scrabbled to get a grip with their feet and beak, then would fall off, and come round for another try.

Its very pleasant, and it reminds me that it has been some years since I trod that way. Thanks for the photos to jog my memory - its time for a return..

We travelled up to Grantown on Spey on Friday, and as we passed Pitlochry, the hills had a light covering of snow, with a bit more on the Cairngorms. Autumn Watch will be starting soon (Tuesday) on TV - just down the road from Grantown, and it looks like they will also see a touch of winter.
Earlier today we were exercising my son's dog in the nearby Anagach Woods



Which has an attractively wood-carved notice



But our chief reason for travelling to Grantown was to celebrate our younger granddaughter's Birthday. One of the more unusual presents is displayed below.



I'm not sure if "This Farming Life" is displayed south of the Border on BBC TV, however it features Lynn Cassells and Sandra Baer who have taken over an old croft (LynBreck) on the road between Grantown and Tomintoul. Our Granddaughters are keen viewers - so were delighted to have Lynn delivering the eggs.
And this afternoon there was a party - with a bouncy castle, which I refrained from trying out, since I need to be capable of driving south tomorrow.

Interesting (?) trivia: Aung San Suu Kyi , Prime Minister of Burma, used to live in Grantown

And further trivia - there is a café in Grantown called Chaplin's Coffee House and Ice Cream Parlour - because Charlie Chaplin used to bring his wife and children to it in the 1970s during holidays in Nairn and Grantown

We had a pleasant walk along the Aberfoyle forest trails yesterday, enjoying the Autumn colours





We watched a red squirrel - who in return, watched us. But every time I raised my camera, it dodged back behind the tree - maybe he only poses for a reward. But there were other, rather unlikely, inhabitants of the woods who were happy to pose.

Your lady friend looks uncomfortably posed, unless perhaps she's just squatting for a wee?

The River Braan beside the Hermitage, near Dunkeld today



It was a pleasant dawdle up through the trees beside the Braan to the Hermitage this afternoon.
But the other part of the plan didn't work out so smoothly. In the (Glasgow) Herald today there was an article on a bakery in Dunkeld, run by a former contestant in the Great British Bake Off - so we felt a visit was required. Much to our surprise it was closed - apparently it only stays open until all of their fresh bakery items have sold out, and this usually occurs in early afternoon at the weekends. Looking at the web I see that it has been known for a queue to form before it opens. Clearly I'll need to get on the road to Dunkeld a bit sooner in the morning.

Ooooer. Noooo!

Assuming the human subject is ‘wifey’you must convince her n’er to place those firm tender rounded cheeks on snow covered freezing rocks else you’ll be putting thru’ a call to Dr. Pile to administer soothing ointment to those nasty hemorrhoids .
