Ouch. He picks himself up, brushes off the debris and (apparently) heads for the pub.

What a guy. It was a double decker ffs. The type of fella when he dines out and the server asks how he likes his steak he casually replies "Just lop off its' horns and wipe its ass".

I was expecting him to stand up and punch the bus. I recognise that spot, near the Purple Turtle, where I had many a pint in the good old days

I honestly can't believe that we've got this far into the thread, and not one single person has bothered to ask yet how the bus is doing?

Re: Reading - a tough town
Ouch!
I was once with someone who got hit by a bus. Only very marginally: the bus was stopping, and overhung the pavement just enough to deliver a glancing blow. Not enough to cause my friend to lose her balance, let alone send her flying like that. The effect was shock rather than physical injury, but she needed to sit down and take time to recover after that.
I wonder if a really heavy blow like the one shown takes you - if you're basically robust, as he evidently is - straight through shock and out the far side?

It's a story that's several months old. It's reappeared because the bus driver has been convicted.

I know, saw it on BBC Berkshire when it happened. The conviction jogged my memory..

Mysteriously, this time they think we need a warning that seeing the bus hit him might be distressing (instead of entertaining). When it originally happened, we apparently didn't need the warning; have we got softer in the last six months or has the Beeb got more scared of upsetting people?

The Beeb June 2017 video carries a warning “Contains some upsetting scenes” http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england ... in-reading
Maybe it didn’t back then or perhaps you saw the video elsewhere.

It would be distressing if the report said he'd suffered serious/long term harm.
The speed with which he gets up and walks away isn't distressing, it's just impressive. I'd like to think I could've done that, but I hope never to find out!

Re: Reading - a tough town
I think that in accidents like that the pedestrian is probably in shock when he stands up and walks away. If he wasn't he would be more likely to have a few words with the driver. The fact that he was injured (2 broken bones) suggests that at least he should have been checked out at a hospital.
It's still an impressive performance by the man
