Riding on buses on the Cambridge guided busways.
The strains of Cwm Rhondda came over the television in the pub in St Ives where I had my lunch.

At home having a party with a load of friends, a huge side of beef.

Stupidly took a short term contract in China. Where I am it's 40C and 90% humidity. Really wish I was back in Blighty today !

am: swimming pool (inevitably) with middle child.
pm: monster trucks with eldest and friends. Slightly bizarrely, in a corporate box, but it was brill.
Sunday: national level netball competition, laserquest party (dad's taxi), shopping for DT cookery ingredients, farmers market for lunch, more taxiing, rebuild oven door

I got high.
Leith Hill. Walked up the tower, and I was higher than the Shard, so I was at the highest point in the south east apparently. I could see the Wembley Arch through binoculars.
Pretty up there.
Roads were noticeably quieter than usual.

Some lovely walks along the footpaths around there.

Re: where were you on this glorious day?
Here in Italy it's Whitsun/Pentecost Bank holiday, and the weather's been brilliant so I managed to sneak out to get something 'really complicated' from the DIY store so to avoid any serious gardening. My wife is usually suspicious but stuff to do with DIY seems to go under the radar.
Since I cut the grass 2 days ago, I have my Brownie points and hope to make it through the day without too much hard labour, though no doubt will be ordered to move some enormous plant on the patio that weighs as much as a black hole cos it's 'much nicer over there'.

Re: where were you on this glorious day?
Sitting painting in the sunshine all day at an uninhabited art exhibition. Rueing slightly the lack of customers, but pretending I'm in the south of France because if I actually was, then the lovely gardens/house I am in for the week, only costs my exhibitor entrance fee, so am really lucky. If I really was on holiday, which I sort of am, then I would be painting in a garden and enjoying the sun anyway. Off duty from any parental care for this short while and enjoying every second to the full. It won't last. Couldn't ask for better but won't cover my costs. Don't even care in this weather and due to the above pretence, then delightfully happy is a me.

Re: where were you on this glorious day?
I was on my way to Ludlow with my wife for a last-minute night away. Between Leominster and Ludlow I looked into the sky and there was a group of buzzards soaring on a thermal. Stopped the car to watch and there must have been about 20 of them, never seen anything like that before. Something to remain in the memory longer than any pomp on the TV!
When we got to Ludlow I found to my surprise that the cheap hotel I booked (less £ than Travellodge) turned out to be a very nice high-end place which was selling off its last couple of rooms at a very good rate. I told my wife I had booked it as treat for her and got lots of brownie points!

Re: where were you on this glorious day?
Yep, we get plenty of buzzards in south Shropshire!
Round these parts (Berks) it's all red kites - haven't seen one north of Banbury area
I like Ludlow, very relaxed.. My dad was brought up near Leominster (pronounced Lemm-ster, in case anyone was wondering)
