soporific effect of Formula 1
I put the highlights program on the Hungarian Grand Prix on record, while I went off fishing. So in the late evening I settled down to watch the recording, and found myself struggling to keep awake. Have I found a new cure for insomnia?

Nope, this particular cure has been known about for years.

Just watching TV does it for me. Ed Balls sent me to sleep last night.

I think Vettel has this problem too. Crashed into the barrier last week and bumped into Bottas this week

I disagree. I found it riveting. Ok so Hamilton won from pole but that doesn't always happen. You guys should get back to your fishing, that much more exciting!

It does in Hungary,... and Monaco. They're always just processions.

I have found a couple of far more stimulating things to watch than the TV, with the added advantage that you do not need a licence for either the microwave oven or the washing-machine.

Not really so, while it's difficult to pass in Hungary, less than half of all the grand prixs held there have been won from pole, so statistically speaking someone else other than the pole sitter is more likely to win....
While I accept that some people find F1 boring (like I do Football) and some reckon that recent seasons have been more boring than average (not me) I don't think that is a fair accusation for this season and while Sunday's race wasn't the most exciting of the year I don't really think it was that dull, if you think it is was it's probably not the sport for you. To me the race was no more boring than those of any number of seasons since the mid 80's that featured a predictable top team with the latest tech innovation romping home with a win twenty seconds ahead of the field. If it's merely the fact you went to sleep in front of the box I suspect that might be more to do with a days fishing in the fresh air, it often makes me fall asleep on the sofa when I get home.
