OK, maybe i'm doing something wrong but i've just looked at the 'Best Posts' section and it looks bloody awful on my Internet Explorer. The second best post is from April (really?).

Also, it doesn't tell me what board the post is from.

I've only just joined so apologies for silly questions. :-/

Yes, there aren’t many top recced posts and Scott’s well received image does make that page tricky to view. I don’t know if the list gets cleared automatically or not. For all I know it needs manual intervention.

Yes, you can’t see which board but, as you say, stooz did well to get anything up and running.

Oops I had no idea, not frequenting that list. I guess it kind of doesn't make sense to display images in a summarised list like that. Hopefully it'll drop off soon.

I tried doing "all time best" but my original post "welcome to the forums" got such a high rec count it never moved off the top slot. I will extend the period a bit more than 60 days...

Always happy to improve the whole system to make it more like TMF, more boards maybe but some of the fringe ones rarely get any posts? I am trying to add content too so there is some extra to see and do, but its hard to get supplies without paying large sums.

Where's the problem if your Welcome post was at the top? It is as good a place as any to start, for anyone coming in via that route.

That might be useful to a new user, but the list isn't going to change very often, is it?

Is there any way that the time period can be configurable?

As HYD said, regular users would probably want to see the 'best' post in the last day/week/month or whatever.

And as pointed out above, if a post in the 'best of' list shows an image, the formatting could be screwed up for a long time.

My earlier reply was partially in jest (being a board for "Banter") and maybe HYD's The second best post is from April (really?).. was misinterpreted.

I wasn't suggesting the app.php/toplist should be extended to such a long period. Unless, as you say, it can be configurable or even have two "Top Lists". One for 365 days or whatever and another for the last month, say. That may obviously require even more late night coding.

I'm unsure this latter part of the thread belongs on Beerpig's. Those who don't read here might wonder what has happened. That's if they look at the "Top List" at all (I only look when it's mentioned).

Maybe a mention of the change over at the "Biscuit Bar" might be an idea but that's primarily stooz's decision and would, no doubt, result in many differing views and suggestions (unless locked but that often results in posters starting a new, related, Topic).
