I dont want to talk....
I do actually..
Last night I went under sufference to see 'Mamma Mia 'take 2' (or whatever it is called)
Mrs B and Miss B were well up for it and Master B's girlfriend too.
Not my bag but the tickets had been purchased so I tootled along.
My friends. Go and see it. Go.
Yes, its cheesy-wishy-washy-bollox and all that but
(I) The music is fab. I mean, Abba are really, really fab. As we know.
(ii) the choreography is fab
(iii) The star, Lily what's-her-name is totally and utterly fab. What a performance! I mean- wow (when I kissed the teacher etc)
Q. Is your life going to be enriched watching this?
A. Yes. Not your own life perhaps but it makes those around you happy and reflectively because you take your wife/girlfriend/Mum/daughter etc they will LOVE it. Not only that but you will store for yourself so many brownie points you'll be allowed out late for ever.
Seriously though?
Yep.
Go and watch it with your womenfolk.
You cannot go wrong.

Thanks for that Landlord. It gives an opposing view to some of those on the Fillum Critics board:

I'm sure we'll enjoy it, if we get to see it. Simple, schmaltzy stuff. What's not to like and I don't care that Pires Borsman (sic) couldn't sing. It went with the character.

Re: I dont want to talk....
I'd love to go see it with Mel but a) she lives a tad too far away for an evening at the flicks and b) she'd kill me if I called her "cheesy". Mind you I think she's fairly soft-hearted under that left-leaning exterior.kiloran wrote:csearle wrote:Just need to find a cheesy, soft, hearted woman to go with. Can't go on my own, can I./?

Ah, I see you've now changed your spec....
I did think you'd set your sights a little too low initially....

Yes, this is a dangerous topic to allow a typo to exist for too long. C.Itsallaguess wrote:Ah, I see you've now changed your spec....

I'm with you BP. Great escapist stuff.
A good excuse to post my favourite band in Utah, covering Abba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWkvXH9WfXQ
It takes talent to get your voice that high.

Re: I dont want to talk....
Nowt wrong with ABBA - some great songs*, and I love the female vocals (prob my favourites, along with Cindy and Kate of the B52s)
Not sure I could handle the film. This modern 'cinema' is very overpowering. I'd rather look at some magic lantern slides, or a nice relaxing watercolour.
* Their preserved fish products are very fine also.
