Unfortunately, they probably just felt sorry for an ageing colleague whose sphincter was no longer under his control, and - exhibiting commendable politeness - decided that it would be insensitive to show any reaction.
It's the same reason they don't comment on the wet patch on your kilt when you return from the cludgy, or the fact that you have long tufts of hair growing out of your ears, or that you drool slightly when talking to them.
