Apparently the list of nominees for the main award won't be announced until the night.

I guess that's to stop the social media campaigns to encourage voting for one person over another. Though I can't see what's really wrong with that. We'll have to look at the odds checking sites to get a run down of the likely candidates...
Geraint Thomas - Tour De France winner and general nice bloke. That's the welsh block vote and most of the cycling block vote
Harry Kane - Golden boot winner but no [expletive deleted] fans will vote for him
Alistair Cook - Cricket block vote but didn't really do that much until his last game, might get the "last chance romantic vote" a-la Mo Farah (who, admittedly, had a pretty good year)
Lewis Hamilton - Predictable F1 block vote
Anthony Joshua - Boxing block vote
Oh, and in that story, tickets to go see it live...£45! Aye carumba! £45 to sit in a big room and watch montages on a big screen and clap? No, you're ok mate.

Re: SPOTY - BBC spoil all our fun
It is perhaps significant that the UK has had the number one on a number of individual sports recently:
Rose - Golf
Hamilton - F1
Joshua - Boxing
Murray - Tennis
And cycling of course although that bores the crap out of me.

Are they offering odds on when the list will be leaked?

How are they going to conduct the voting?

Re: SPOTY - BBC spoil all our fun
Do I remember a time when the public wrote their contender's name on a card and posted it in to be counted.
The one with the most votes won.
The programme showed highlights of different sports from the year in question, quite fun.
Why should the BBC make the choice.
The loveys of the current setup makes it unwatchable sycophancy.
I'll get my coat

Hooray!!
I must say I get fed up of the BBC drip-feeding the names and promoting the programme for weeks in advance. Hopefully they'll just get on with it and let those who are interested participate on the night
