What's your fruit?
I wonder if the site could be enhanced to allow users to display some sort of symbol next to their user name to indicate their educational attainments, this would save them the trouble of telling us every time they post.
I suggest some sort of a fruit-based symbol set to tie in with the site name, maybe a cherry for a GCSE or O-level, a plum for an A-level, a peach for a first degree and so on, up to a pineapple for a doctorate. Of course, the format of the display might need to be changed to include all the qualifications of some users.
malkymoo (HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering), an apricot maybe?

Re: What's your fruit?
Why do you want to belittle the cherry? Delicious (in season).
Mine's a blueberry: small but perfectly delicious, and grows in such lovely places. The cruellest fruit to gather in the wild, on account of so much work for so little result.

I think you are maybe confusing the bilberry with the blueberry. Bilberries are found on moorland, blueberries are found in Waitrose.

Around here it's whortleberries. One of many blueberry varieties.
But I've much enjoyed them - pretty similar blueberry varieties - in real mountains and forests, from the Alps to Scandinavia. As I said, nice places.

Rotten through and through, but unaccountably favoured by some. You can call me Durian.

I suggest that, for those with IT skills, the most appropriate fruit would be the raspberry.
If you make the grade, you'll know why.

For some of those who frequent Polite Discussions, perhaps a Prickly Pear.
(Some may require many Prickly Pears)

Perhaps a chestnut for me -- prickly and somewhat nutty at the same time.

In Scotland they are called blaeberries - but the spell checker on this site keeps trying to change the "a" to a "u"

A wild blackberry. To get to my lush and succulent centre you need to first brave thorns, barbs and bramble.

At my age I am getting a little bent, so perhaps a banana would be appropriate.
Pity rhubarb is not a fruit.

Lychee for me. Or possibly an ugli fruit
Not a durian though [edit: BJ has nabbed the durian 'upthread'. OK as long as he keeps it well away from civilised noses]

Banana technically isn't fruit either.

Lol, best not go down that route or next we'll be discussing which nuts are really nuts too.
