Cucumber in gin and tonic
So 'normally' it would be a slice of lemon in your gnt but have been adding in a slice of cucumber ( just normal bombay gin not hendrinks) and taste is great (assuming you like cucumber!).
Any other additions to try?

Re: Cucumber in gin and tonic
If cucumber then surely a hint of mint to complement it?
Have you tried a hot chilli with your G&T?
... and shouldn't this be on the drinks board?

Re: Cucumber in gin and tonic
When I asked for a G&T at the Hippodrome Casino in London they gave me Plymouth Gin, Fever Tree ordinary light tonic and a slice (well a quarter of a slice) of pink grapefruit. Truly an eye opener for me after lime, lemon, cucumber, elderflower, mint and basil et al. And it's become a staple back home. Give it a try.

Re: Cucumber in gin and tonic
There's a gin bar in Leicester (45 West I think its called) that has all sorts of Gins and a variety of tonics and other additions to the standard G&T - two I have had included a BIG chunk of orange and a sprig of charred rosemary but not in the same glass. The orange version was nice but I only had one with the rosemary. I suppose its a case of what botanicals are in the gin in the first place and then looking at complimentary flavours to go with it. I remember the same place did a gin and elderflower and tonic drink (gin, elderflower cordial and tonic) - the ice cubes contained loads of frozen elderflowers which released their 'catty' aroma as the ice defrosted

Re: Cucumber in gin and tonic
A friend of mine has a craft distillery and runs gin tasting sessions. He says in blind taste tests, standard Tesco tonic (non-diet) often gets voted best.

with the additional benefit that when you finish the liquid you can eat the gin-soaked slice of cucumber.

There are better things than cucumber for that. Ever tried a watermelon infused with gin?

No. We often have cucumber in the fridge but not watermelon.
I'll bear it mind though. Thanks.

I can see that working - I'm partial to gin and pink grapefruit juice. I think Greenalls (or M&S?) do a premix can

Aldi are doing Harrisons juniper and cucumber gin right now. Sensibly priced its very refreshing. It only appears spasmodically, there was none at Xmas

Watermelon - either as-is or spiced up (alcoholic options include gin or vodka) - is a taste I acquired in the heat of the Italian summer. When it's really hot, just plain watermelon is best. But for the extended season, or a cooler summer like the British (even the hot bits of 2018), you can play around freely.
